Did VA ask to come back ?

I have heard from two different sources that VA made a visit to Coach Beau to ask about returning to EWU?
He was rebuffed of course. I do not know when this happened. Anyone else hear anything.?

He must not have because Baldwin would have welcomed him back with open arms!!

Like UM welcomed Hauck back with open arms??? This is bigger than VA's talent now, it's about the team. Good luck vs. NDSU, it will make the beat down we put on the Griz all the sweeter.

No.

Yes, I've heard multiple times from multiple sources. I think it's fairly likely that it happened considering all the things that have happened but we'll likely never know for sure.

I hope he figures out a way to make it onto the Duck's roster and plays well (except against us). If this rumor is factual, I can't imagine he sees his chances as being strong on doing much there at this point. And there is no way he should be taken back, even if it were possible. He made his choice, and if it backfires, he will have to live with it. In any case, he is listed as one of the most intriguing QB's to watch next year (#5 of 25).

Well, this is less then a glowing vote of confidence from Oregon's head coach. "Head coach Mark Helfrich has sidestepped questions about Adams the last couple months, saying he prefers to talk about people who are currently part of the program." From Si.com article.

I think VA blew it by not getting his academics settled in a timely manner. If he does pass the test and enroll, I see him being shelved as a novelty player at this point. Too late to have him build the chemistry needed to be the team leader.

If he passes, he'll be fine, have you guys even seen Lockie play??? he's very bland, no where near close to the QB Adams is... but he may have bitten off more than he can chew, sounds like he needs to go find an eighth grader to do his On-line Math exam... BTW I took this almost same math class almost ten years after college for an ex-gf who sucked at math... and other things... I finished her entire semester in 3 days, it was frustrating at times, but only because I hadn't done math that remedial in almost 20 years.

This looks like it could wind up being a sad story. Maybe the grass was only literally greener in Eugene.

Probably the best scenario is for Vernon to pass but I'm not so sure the Oregon coaches are too happy with Vernon at the moment. I have a feeling they were expecting Vernon in June so he could go through summer practices to get his timing down and he could meet with the coaches to make sure he was comfortable with the playbook.

If he does not pass would Coach B allow him as a walkon? or could he attend another FCS or NAIA school?

yes, I have heard from more than one source that he inquired into the possibility of coming back if things didn't work out at Oregon. Was told that the program has moved on.

For his sake, I hope he passes that math test or this is going to turn into a very sad story, indeed.

Does anyone else have the feeling that VA playing at Oregon seems like a long shot? I do.
Will he get the start against Eastern? No! Will he get the start against Michigan state? No! If Lookie plays good and or guides the ducks to a win in East Lancing VA might be done.

I can't help feeling that the big part of the motivation for "recruiting him hard" was to help fill out the qb depth but also simultaneously erase the chance of being lit up for 400 plus yards and 30 plus points like their other pac 12 cohorts have the last couple of years. When they gave him a tour of their 68 million dollar locker rooms (palace?) Vernon took it hook, line and sinker! I hope he gets some playing time but as the year goes on they will probably invest their time with a younger qb.

Interesting post.

1). The rumors have been around since at least late spring, and they don't matter.

2). Hot damn do I want to see us light up the ducks a little.

I have never posted regarding this situation. However, this whole thing is weird and tragic at the same time.

This EAGS team is loaded with talented athletes and students and I am confident this whole situation does not phase them in the least. I expect them to go toe to toe with Oregon.

Baldwin said today that EWU will not take VA back if he doesn't pass his test tomorrow. For Vernon's sake I hope he passes the test and has a great season but i can't imagine the UO coaches are very happy with the situation right now. It has become very clear VA made a bad choice but hey we have all made bad decisions when we are 21-22...I also think his old high school coach is a selfish jerk for pushing VA in this direction.

Interview starts at about 21:30. Comments about Vernon 33:20
