Dilemma - Travel to Missoula or NCAA Tournament

Unfortunately, I have resigned myself to the fact that conference tournament will likely be in Missoula. There is just too much that needs to happen for us to host this year. The good news is that I think we have a great chance of winning the tournament in Missoula.

I can't make trips to both the conference tournament and the NCAA tournament the next week. I am trying to decide whether or not to go to Montana. The joy of wearing purple after a big win on their court may be worth it. But going to the NCAA's the next week fits into my schedule better and lets face it, its the big dance.

I really like our chances this year of winning the tournament regardless of location. What would you guys do?

if it was me....and i have a similar dilemma...here is my plan.

since i live in a host city for the big dance im holding out. i would love to go to missoula and i would go to it if i lived in ogden, 7 hr drive assuming no bad weather and with the new tourney format to the weekend it finally works out for road fans. thank you big sky! 6 games in 3 days!!! way fun.

i have driven to montana for the big sky tourney in snow storm and i would not do that again.

misoula is too far for me to drive. so i will hold out for the big dance. only prob is we know for sure we are in the big sky tourney but we dont know for sure if we end up in ncaa or nit or well im not gonna go there. what if we get to the big dance and its on the east coast? that is another factor for you. would u still go?

there are only 2 western cities, slc and sj. so with 8 sites that is a 12.5% chance of the tourney in slc or sj. but i dont think they would put weber in slc so for me that means in my optimistic thinking that sj gets that 12.5% so sj has a 25% chance since you see regionalization when possible though its not a big priority like fcs playoffs. and of course if griz go dancing then i will cry on my pillow.

i used this same philosphy for baseball playoff tkts this past oct. i didnt buy tkts to what ended up being guaranteed and bought tkts for wildcard and american league championship rd games, the tkts i owned never took place and i was refunded. all the games that did take place i didnt have tkts. so maybe take someone elses advice. i am also considering buying random sj tourney tkts but i dont want to buy the whole package.

Many "Bracketologists" currently have Montana (Big Sky Conf leader so far) playing as a 15 seed in Auburn Hills vs. Michigan (or it used to be Michigan State). CBS Sports bracketologist has MT as a 14 seed playing Arizona in SLC.

Missoula is hard to get to, but at least you know what games will occur at least for the first round. NCAA/NIT/CBI/CIT - one of them will have the Cats. I would suggest going to Missoula, could be most exciting games of the season.

could be most exciting games of the season.

While I'm not about to look an ESPNU gift horse in the mouth, man, I sure wish this game was on one of the primary ESPN networks. Because I think it just may well be one of the best basketball games of the year.

First we gotta make sure that Weber and Montana both make the Championship game

Other than that 100% agree.

We won't make the NCAA tournament without winning the Big Sky Tournament. I'm going to go with Rahe's philosophy here...take it one game at a time. Since the next game is the most important that is the one I will focus my attention on. hahahaha.

Also, when the Cats make the NCAA's, if not SLC, then it best be San Jose. Then I can actually fulfill a promise to visit catcat and go to a couple Weber State games.

Missoula is a snap to drive 6.5 hrs. 2 Interstates will lead you right to campus I-15, & I-90 West, Bozeman is another story.

If anyone does make the trip to Missoula and would like recommendations on places to stay, eat, drink, etc let me know. If you haven't been there, Missoula is a cool college town.

Fair Warning: If both men's and women's tournaments are held there, get your hotel reservations made ASAP. Most teams probably won't stay at the hotels close to downtown and campus (because they're more expensive than the ubiquitous chain hotels out on Reserve), but rooms in the places you want to be will go fast.

I'VE EXPERIENCED THE DRIVE HOME FROM AN AWAY GAME AFTER A LOSS, AND TO THINK THAT WEBER MIGHT LOSE THE GAME AND HAVING TO DRIVE BACK HOME FROM MISSOULA MAKES ME SICK. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: I WILL MOST LIKELY GO TO BUFFALO WILD WINGS WITH TAL, N OGDENCAT, NEFF, AND FLYLIKEASPARROW, MAYBE EVEN JIMMYD4THREE. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I wanna get a group together and car pool up to missoula. who is with me?

I might be down for a trip to beautiful Missoula MT and the mighty blackfoot river. When ya thinking of rolling out? Your driving right?

If not...I'll be watching the games with bengalhater at the BWWs.

Oh, yes, I have been with bengalhater after a close loss. From Reno to Lovelock it seemed as if he had a severe case of terrets. :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

I'd like to watch the Cats next week. I'm just hoping I'll be watching the Cats in Ogden and not in Missoula. Hope NAU or Sac can pull off an upset or two this week.

can i come?

talhad,

casa del gatogato is a first come first serve basis in st. joseph. sadly they inn is already spoken for by wazzuwildcat and migraman about a month ago. u just arent as optimistic and are a day late and a buck short. but i could see if any of my neigbors can host you. do you by chance speak Hindi, Bengali, Punjabi?

For me this is an easy answer. travel to NCAA's!

While we are not for sure going, we have a great chance. We haven't gone to NCAA for like 7 years. We go to the Big Sky tournament every year and host it about 50 percent of the time, which means you'll have plenty more opportunities to see the tournament here in Utah someday soon.

I've never been to an NCAA tournament but from what migraman's olderbrother, wazzuwildcat tells me, it's da bomb!

I have an aunt who has a place in Sea Cliff and by the Korean Consuls pad...She has a nicer and bigger place in de bay than your squalid hole in the wall. LOOOOOOL...but yes, I think I could pass off some punjabi if need be.

But the question you should be asking yourself...who does Mrs. Catcat want to stay at her place? I think I'd win over wazzu and migram. Especially since I tell the best bengalhater stories. LOOOOL

LOOOOOL LOVELOCK NEVADA!! :coffee: :coffee: :coffee: :coffee:

What does this even mean?

I just want to watch this team as much as possible. This is definitely a special Weber State team. If it were possible I'd go to Missoula, even though I think the Big Sky Championships will end up in Ogden (Go SAC and NAU), and also go to the NCAAs. Montana will really like the NIT or worse CIT this season.
