Division 1 computer rankings

Interesting...

NDSU at 48 above Georgia, Oregon, and several other marquee programs.
Jacksonville St at 81 over several P5 programs.
EWU at 83, over Oregon St and other P5's.
UNI at 89, despite a 2-3 record. Crazy.

UNI has a high strength of schedule. That is all that is proping them up right now.

Their ISU win still has to help a little as does the success of us and Montana.

But the computers are still unreliable.

Wild that UW and WSU are in the top twenty. Petersen is a miracle worker and UW is playing superb football. Young team. When not cheering for the Eagles, am a Pac12 homer in SEC country. Never thought I would say it, Go Huskies.

I can't understand the computer poll's love affair with UNI. How on Earth can they be rated above Montana, who have only one loss and beat UNI on their home field? UNI really only has one quality win (Iowa State) and a lot of losses to teams that aren't highly ranked.

If Wazzu can keep winning, that'll help us out a lot. Obviously, it doesn't matter much in the long run since the FCS does things the right way and settles it on the field with a playoff system. But it's nice to get recognition for achievement.

That WAZZU win is huge if they keep plugging away and winning. If they run the table except for the UW game the committee might look at that win as being just as big as North Dakota's depending on how high WAZZZZZUU has moved up in the polls by the end of the year.

And WSU's close loss to Boise St really isn't a bad loss on their resume either. I could see WSU winning most of their games, and heck, even the Apple Cup, as it isn't uncommon the team that's supposed to lose seems to win that game!

The Apple cup is shaping up to be Super Tecmo bowl game...aka the usual Big Sky conference game...all offense no defense.

Not so sure about that. I think WSU will score on them, but UW has the #1 ranked defense in the Pac.

The high-water mark for WSU's defense has been 33 points in games against teams not named Eastern Washington, and that came against Oregon where they put in a garbage TD in the 11th hour.

The WSU defense, frankly, isn't too bad. We just hang points on teams.

I've said this in another thread, but our offense is nothing short of historic. We've become used to really good offense, but this year so far has been a whole other level!

You're right, we score points on everyone we play and will continue to do so. Even if we end up dropping a game or two, we're not going to be a team that anyone wants to meet in the playoffs. The WSU defense is pretty good as they have shown the past couple of games, but I think when we get into track meets with teams like that it gives us the opportunity to win due to how many reps our offense gets in the game. Just look no further than the 2013 Oregon State game.
