Dixie Slavers up next

The Slavers have a good club this year. They beat SUU quite convincingly a couple of weeks ago. They seem to be a club that plays well at home and poorly on the road. They like their home cooking. We may have to beat an 8 man side down there. In that respect, it will be a lot like the SUU of old. They will bring in their janitor and a couple of Sherif's Deputies to call the game and couldn't care less about what anybody thinks. Not sure how Randy got talked into playing down there ever, let alone for this first meeting of the two teams. Anyway, it is what it is.

We know what our rotation looks like now. Hope they do well down in the land of cotton. :coffee:

whoa slavers...but they changed their name to trailblazers out of respect for dame and felt about about being terrorists who waged war against the united states way back when. trailblazers is a fitting name, much better than the genociders in slc. :shocking: :bad: damnit you forum posters are all such liberal hippy wokists. wsu fault?

Guilty as charged, but historically correct.

Brigham Young sent some good mormons and their slaves south to establish a cotton growing region. Hence the name Dixie. It didn't work out well due to lack of water and poor soils, but that is how the community was established.

There you go. A little history that is not usually taught in Utah schools.

You are welcome. :coffee:

A solid trouncing of the Trailblazers. An undefeated November is amazing. It looks like the Big Sky is racking up my some impressive non-conference victories. Can’t wait to see the Wildcats play in the Purple Palace next week to open conference play. I am really liking the team play…as many on this forum have said, I just hope they can work in a bigger rotation so there is some tread left on the tires late February and March.

Judkins has that team playing really hard. They are not overly talented, but they play hard and together. That was not as easy as the score might indicate. To that point, I hope overton's nose isn't broken and that he doesn't lose any of his teeth. The blood and the mess looked really bad after he took the head butt to the face. It looked to be not intentional, but the result was a mess. I'm sure they got him to a doctor right away. We only have 4 days to the next game. If he plays it will be a small miracle.

After the game, Randy said that the flu has been going through the team and that it had kept them from having a couple of practices. We did look a bit sluggish for a lot of that game.

The two teams coming up next week will have a little more talent than the Slavers had. I still can't believe that they beat SUCC. :coffee:

they said during the game that dixie st will never play in ogden as a dI school because next yr they will be renamed utah tech trailblazers.

Trying toi figure out why the Dixie Rebel Slavers were able to beat SUU, when we handled them fairly easily. BTW, did I mention how much I like ESPN+ and the ability to go back and watch future opponents against someone you have already played. Anyways, here is my take on it.

SUU clearly had the superior guards and atletes. Although SUU may have been the recipient of some good old fashioned home cooking, That was not the difference in the game. Dixie had superior big men inside and that was to real reason for the outcome of that game. SUU made Dixie's big men look like legitimate D1 post players.

Against us, Dixie's big men looked like average D11 post players and our guards were also superior in every way. I'll say it right now, If SUU can not get better play out of their big men, there is no way they contend for a BSC title. That is IMHO. Right now, I would rate UM, MSU, and NoCo's big men as superior to SUUs.

Also. I am truley glad that we got some good, experienced refs for our game down there. :coffee:
