Downside of VA transfer "exposure"

I know some folks on here think that the VA transfer may somehow give us some positive exposure. While I have to admit, the announcement that he is the starter has led to more utterances of "Eastern Washington" on ESPN than I've ever heard, there is a major down side.

It dawned on me that an FBS AD looking for a new coach might recognize that three weeks in Oregon's fall camp might not be the determining factor in VA's skills and abilities. Coach Baldwin is an offensive maven and quarterback guru. Any success VA has this year reflects more upon Coach B than Helfrich and the Yucks (at least to anyone of discernment).

Could this "exposure" expedite Beau's departure to a bigger school?

He just signed a 5 year contract with EWU... Doesn't that mean he is for sure staying with us regardless of whether or not he wants to become the next jim mcelwain?

I'm sure there is always a way out. Buyout?

absolutely not. Any P5 conference school can afford to buyout whatever clause there is in the contract.

I get what you're saying, but I think when Beau gets an opportunity in the P12 (and I think he will), it will be because of his entire body of work, and not any VA-induced exposure. Just my take.

Agree. The new contract is awesome, but it won't deter a big school going after him. My opinion is that the urgency in getting a new contract signed was Montana's desperate attempt at luring him away. Baldwin was their #1 choice. Shitt was #2 or #3.

True. It's not like his success has gone unnoticed.

No, I'm talking about the flip side of the supposed exposure that people were claiming we were getting from the transfer. In earlier discussions regarding him leaving, some people were trying to find a silver lining and though it would give EWU attention somehow. If that was true, a downside might be Beau getting more attention for producing a tremendous quarterback.

Now you know.
