Wow 9 i mean nine touchdowns in a single game and we still lost. Shantz was another beast out there with that last minute TD. I still cant believe what I saw today. I am excited for next year. 9 TD's what a game drew.

What the F---!!!!! NINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake UP!!!!!

HE IS A FROSH! And don't give me that bull---- about him being young and pressure and blah blah you can't put it all on him. he f----n dropped 9 tds without a a pick. Welcome to the future O. PSU needs to find a Defensive coordinator and JG is not it. He is the face of the program but not the DC. JG stays as COACH but not as COACH AND NOT DC. Bottom line.

You can edit what I said but 9 tds and no pics some one else give me an example of a frosh qb doing that. COLT BRENNAN DIDNT DO IT. 9.9.9.9.9.9.

NO INTS!!!!

Not as Coach and DC. Pick your heads up we are going to roll Montana with a third of that performance.

Unbelievable! Wow! I hope Mouse is smiling now. I shook hands with the new AD. I told him one thing:
BEAT THE GRIZ!!!
GO VIKS!

If you were to tell me after the first two PSU drives that he'd throw nine TD passes, I'd have laughed.

What a performance by him.

I hope Mouse realizes that Hubel is the future of this program, not the oft-injured Howland.

As a frosh, with very limited game experience, he went out and played smart and very well. 9 TDs is great for any QB, let along a frosh in his first start.

I'm very pleased with our offense this year. I'm really not sure what is going on with our defense. I didn't know that Glanville was implementing the Swiss Cheese Defense.

I have to stay stick with him too. Amazing that he didn't even graduate early. This is a freshman who's only been on campus for a few months.

48-73 596 yards and 10 touchdowns

That's all essentially in a game and a half. If he gets Bobby McClintock back healthy with some receivers as good as the ones they have this year, the offense should be scary- as long as they can figure out the protection factor.

Tough luck for Howland, but he had to know that there was a chance this would happen.

It was obvious if you attended the game that Hubel has a great arm. All his throws were straight and hard. In fact, if he didn't throw so hard, he would have had a couple interceptions. He also has a cool and calm leadership quality to him. I'm not going to say he is savior yet, but what a performance. I love it when local kids came to PSU and do well. By the way, the game was totally entertaining, but losing never feels good.

Well, that was one game, wasn't it? How's the rest of his performance been?

Edit: Although everyone has to admit that nine touchdowns are never due to a lucky day alone.

It will certainly be hard to keep Drew off the field next year! From my seats at the game, Hubel looked like a poised veteran. I'm proud of the whole team for not giving up.

The QB was very poised in the pocket, and was able to escape situations where other QBs have been sacked in the past. He has a good future for the Vikings. Now what about the defense?

On our way to paying for Saturday's tickets, we (and I remain silent on who "we" are) were given, um, front row tickets... right over the dugout where the cheerleaders do pushups, BTW. Perhaps we should have stayed there for the second half.

Instead, we stood in the party corner in the "outfield" (foul ground, really). The following were obvious about Hubel...

Over the correct shoulder every time.

Nice accurate throws, and fairly quick decision-making. I didn't see anything too mobile about him.

The people next to us swore he threw harder than White.

Now, understand that we were witness to a Weber State defense that, in facing a run-n-shoot with a true freshman QB, decided to shut down the PSU running game. For the most part, that's what they did. Frankly, I went through that game thinking I'd have done the same thing, especially since the other game I really tuned into this year was the one at EWU where Sobomehin ran all over the Eagles. Doesn't mean they didn't bring pressure in the second half, especially at the points where Hubel, really, started going off.

Had to like that.

Now, about that defense...

He did very well moving fluidly without panic allowing him to still make great reads down field. He was never really pressured super hard forcing him to avoid multiple defenders. I do remember him scrambling at least once on the home sideline for a gain of maybe about 5.

Hubel also didn't hold the ball, something that White tends to do.

Very true he never took on unnecessary contact, that could go along way for his durability over what will be a long career.

What defense??!! This is probably PSU's worst defensive team ever statistically speaking. Too bad since we have some great players.
