This looks like a good recruit for us. Any time we can take someone who is also being recruited by North Dakota State, it's a good thing. Hopefully, he is as good as advertised. But it wouldn't take much to be better than our current starter.

I like what I see from that video, accurate throw, good decision making and the kid is fast. Here's hoping for a great future for Dakota and Weber State

That's 3 Offensive Coordinators gone from his recruiting, Nevada OC gone, Ut. State gone, WSU, Clark gone... hope he stays here despite the change.

From the article in the newspaper, it said that the offer from Nevada fell thru after the OC left there, USU didn't contact him after their OC left, & @ WSU, it was Fasi Sitake on the staff who was his contact. He's enrolled & happy according to what's said. :twocents:

Dakota Miller has been through the recruiting gauntlet, but he has landed on his feet.

Miller, one of the nation's top five rated QB recruits currently on board with an FCS school, was originally slated to sign with Nevada--the college home of another great QB, Colin Kaepernick of San Francisco 49ers fame. But a coaching change prompted him to go in another direction, and Weber State and the Big Sky Conference came calling. It was a whirlwind of activity, but Miller (6-1/190) enrolled early and loves the school. Two months ago, he planned to go to Nevada--but now he's already on the Utah-based campus as an early enrollee.

Weber-State"It wasn't that hard to make that decision late, really," Miller told HERO Sports. "I already knew the coaching staff through recruiting and I liked them. I think this is a really good level to play in. North Dakota State was my first offer and when I watched film on them I coulud tell it was really good football and competition at this level."

Along with the Bison, Wolfpack and the Wildcats, Miller also held offers from FBS Utah State and emerging FCS power Northern Arizona. Notre Dame even inquired about Miller early in the process. But Miller had his heart set on Weber State, a Big Sky program that went 6-5 last year with a signature overtime win over playoff-bound Montana. Last year's starter, Jadrian Clark, was a junior. Miller could have a shot at the starting job as early as a year from today.

Miller, a native of California, loves how former Eastern Washington and Oregon quarterback Vernon Adams plays, and said his style of play is similar.

"Coaches say they love that when the receivers are not open I can extend plays with my legs and keep my eyes downfield, and if that doesn't work I can take it for 6 (points) myself," Miller said. "People have said I have the 'it' factor."

Miller joins another 3-star prospect (rare for FCS schools) on Weber State's recruiting list for 2016. In-state product Noah Kramer received looks from Oregon and Utah and reports an offer from BYU, but Weber State won the defensive tackle over.

Dual threat qb a major bust.

Early workout reports

Miller is really only 5'10. Has absolutely no arm and is slow!!!!
The San Marcos league was average at best. Oside would destroy San Marcos

How does WSU keep picking these major bust at qb

Just remember dual threat qb is code word for no arm!

Miller will be playing db before the end of spring ball

The roster at Wsu has more qbs that will never see d1 play at qb than any team in the nation.

I know rest well we have Adrian back, sad I know

I'm just curious to know how you have this major insight into this new QB??? As far as I know they haven't been in pads or practiced together so far. I think your information is being fed to us via B.S. or maybe you're a disgruntled ex player! As for your statement of him playing in a crummy league I would venture to say you know NOTHING about California football or that area in general!! I guarantee you and anyone else willing to argue that he played way tougher competition than Justin Shaw the QB out of Fremont high that people seem to think has a good future. I personally think this post about "early reports" stinks far worse than my dogs turds do!!

You'll quickly find ncaafootball sometimes talks out of his ass, but always holds the team to really really high standards

Your definition of sometimes and mine are waaaaay different.

It's way, way, way, too early to draw any conclusions on any players. That is totally true when it comes to 18 year olds fresh out of HS. Spring practice will get going in about a month. We may know a little more at the end of spring practice, but that still may not be enough time to evaluate. I seem to remember a similar QB who was a similar size and type, who ended up not getting much attention coming out of HS, ended up at a JC, and has been fairly successful in the NFL...., Aaron Rogers. It is extremely hard for anyone to predict how some of these young players will grow and develop. :coffee:

Just for the record the team starts working out the first week of January at early morning 6 am practices in the indoor field house as unorganized practices as a team, the NCAA allows the strength and conditioning coach to run these practices, which Coach Henderson does a great job. Running and passing drills three days a weeks lifting on the other days to prep for springball to elminate injuries, but I am sure you already knew that, NOT! Official organized practices or also known as "spring ball" begins in March, so yes anyone that wanted to see the new QB throw or run could see him in January and Feb compared to the other QB's. Bottom line is he had the weakest arm strength out of any of the QB's. FYI...I Aaron Rodgers never was listed as a dual threat QB. And yes Clark will be the QB for all of next year unless he gets hurt and there is no close second. Sorry for the bad news.

As for talking out of my ass? I will let the record speak for itself. I was the first to make the call out last year on the OC Clark and the fact he needed to be replaced, which if he didn't bolt, Hill would of fired him. Also the first to make the call out on the QB or lack thereof last year. Yes I was also the one early on in spring ball last year that made the call out that the Cats had serious problems at the receiver position catching the ball and the team ended up having over 45 dropped passing for the season. Yes, 1st to make the call on the outstanding coaching job of the WSU offensive line coach and the running game last year before it really go going. So I am trying to find an issue that I posted that later proved I was talking out of my ass? Let's see how the dual threat QB does, I am sure he will be the next Aaron Rogers or would anybody like to take a bet on that and put their money where there mouth is? See you at the first scrimage this Friday!

Yes you are still pretty much talking out of your ass! As far as your predictions about bad QB play, strong OL, and strong RB play...even my 90+yr old grandma who is blind could see that coming.
As far as OC Clark, he was never going to get fired by Jay Hill and to imply he ran to BYU to avoid getting fired is just a dumbass statement. So yeah keep talking out of your ass son. :blah: :blah: :blah:

Hey ncaa are you a former player or something because you are so insightful about the team, also are you a football coach or trying to be one.

According to his Instagram account, Dakota Miller is now at Boise St. He spent the entire spring session here at WSU but has now moved on to Boise St.
According to fan board member ncaafootball wrote: "Bottom line is he had the weakest arm strength out of any of the QB's."
HE sure must suck to get to move up to Boise St....Weber could have really used his talents at QB.

Food for thought...NCAA May talk out of his rear sometimes, but he hit two things on the nose. First, Dakota Miller isn't a great QB, decent yes, but we already have three or four decent QBs. He went through Spring Ball and never really impressed anybody. He was a walk on trying to get a roster spot. He'll be doing the exact same thing at Boise, except academically it'll be a lot easier. Boise is a joke of an academic institution. Nonetheless, Dakota probably won't be playing QB at Boise State anytime soon. He really should go the JC route, but to each his own. Best of luck to the kid. Hope he proves us wrong, if he is playing at all.

Second, Steve Clark wasn't in trouble of being fired, but of being demoted. He wasn't getting the job done and Jay was getting frustrated. You can't really blame Clark. He doesn't have a QB and teams knew it. We could run at ease between the 20s but once in the red zone and a shortened field we were terrible. Just couldn't get points on the board. Losing to Eastern is the kicker (no pun intended lol), we were the far better team, just couldn't capitalize on opportunities.

Lol, decent doesnt mean competent or good. Jadrian is decent...evidently, good enough to start for a DI team. But, if we had a better QB...hmmm

I'm just worried about all the guys falling off the roster and worried whether we will see them again or not. Starters!!
