I assume this is part of a home-home arrangement. That should finalize the schedule for next year. A bit of a bummer we didn't get a sixth home game, but I like the scheduling creativity.

Are you sure? It seems unlikely we'd schedule a Patriot League team on the road only. It seems like we'd be the program holding the better cards in this arrangement. Also, without a return trip, we only have four home games scheduled right now for 2018. The recent scheduled dates we've put together against other FCS teams have all been home-home arrangements; I'd feel a bit differently about this game if we just sold ourselves to a single road game ala South Dakota in 2011.

I really hope there is a return trip in the works, but according to the article, it state's "one game series."

So what schedule is more daunting....this years or next years? Talk about stepping up the schedule...when do we get ALABAMA!!!!

Normally, I try not to complain about the schedule, but if there is no return trip with this...I really don't like it. Even still, I believe this year's schedule is tougher than next year's will be.

Times are tough...taking a one game away series to New York. After expenses what do you think we make(or how much will that cost us)? So Fordham in New York a week after NDSU then all the way back home to rest/heal up and get ready to play at Montana...glad we have a good team. 1st four games next season;

9/2 at Texas Tech
9/9 North Dakota State
9/16 at Fordham
9/23 at Montana*

Maybe the AD looks at it this way. It plugs a scheduling gap with an FCS school that we should easily win (on paper). If they're covering expenses it's not the worst option ever. We never got a return trip from South Dakota State either. If only we had a stadium that was capable of generating more revenue we could attract (and pay) opponents to come to us.

I hope that's a joke....if this is a one game series we really outdid ourselves. This has 2011 written all over it, good thing we get NDSU at home. If we get a return game I love it...

Jeezus, you're right. It does say "one game series." While I like the idea of going to NYC for a game, this suddenly looks like a far crappier situation. I figured we were past the point of having to sell games to FCS teams. I mean, I get the big paycheck that comes with BCS teams in a one-off roadie, but we can't find a way to get someone like Fordham to come to Cheney for a home-home?

Our scheduling is beyond atrocious sometimes

I was stoked to see us add a new opponent in Fordham. Then I see it's a one game series and I'm left scratching my head. Why do we do these one offs?

You think about this from a neutral perspective, and it seems beyond belief that Fordham can get an FCS power to come to their place for a one-off. I love this game as part of a home-home arrangement, but without a return trip, it seems like we are getting shafted.

This would be like San Diego State buying a game with Alabama. It seems like the exact opposite of what would be expected. And while I'm sure there is some unique draw for Alabama kids to play in SoCal, you would think it would at least be negotiated with a return trip in mind.

However, even with all that said, I'd love to go to this game. I just hope I'm not reading between the lines that not trying to get these guys to Cheney isn't due to us having no stadium improvements in the works by 2018. It seems like whenever we get something done on the stadium, it would be nice to play 6 at home.

If I were to ever become successful enough to hire people, I would hire Dopa. When it comes to scheduling he is so... passionate. There would never be a error in my appointments.

Although it sucks that we don't get a home game out of the deal, I'm pretty excited to play Fordham. They get to play pretender so often in that terrible conference and their fans get so cocky from beating bad teams. I would love to see EWU go in, kick the crap out of them and chalk it up as a D1 win.

I'd rather see us play a DII at home. At least we'd get a sixth game in that scenario.

why? It doesn't count. The AD had a hard time finding a final DI home game and while this isn't an ideal find at least it counts if we beat them. It also gives the program a chance to compete in a geographic region that I don't think they've ever played in.

:notworthy: Great reference, fantastic movie.

Can't wait to watch EWU tear apart this team. Cocky fans for a middle of the road team that pulls crap like this against bad division 2 teams.
