One man's opinion.

He also thinks that WSU is nearly in a tier of its own.

I love how some of these media people(loosely used) have no clue what goes on in most of the conferences like ours. He probably has Tanner Groves as preseason MVP. EWU 2nd tier and their entire team transferred out?

I have a lot more confidence in the coaches poles. However, they also seem to go mostly by what happened last year.

Here is what I am 100% sure of; It's going to be a lot of fun.

I’m too busy in summer pinning my hopes on the Cubs to comment on hoops. As you can tell, it was a crappy and long summer. When the games start getting played, it will be fun to comment.

With how the transfer portal works, I have no idea how any team will do this year…it’s a lot of talk. It will be fun to go back to the Purple Palace to see some games.

I have tried to follow what all our teams have been doing with recruiting and in the portal. The total unknown is how much development has happened with all of the returning players. A lot can happen over a summer and fall.

My opinion is that the league is wide open with the top 5 or 6 teams.

Forming my opinion soley on recruiting and portal transfers, I would say that UM, MSU, UNCo, WSU, SUU, and Sac should be improved. ISU, NAU, and PSU look to be about the same as last year, and that's pretty good. UI will likely struggle again and EWU is a complete unknown. They lost too many players and have a new coach. We probably won't know much about EWU until mid January.

The only sure bet in that whole thing is that UI will not win any titles. Sorry to burst your Vandal bubble, but I just can't see it.

There will surely be some surprises. There always are. :thumb:

The one thing that is known is that basketball will begin in a month. Other than that it is a huge mystery. Personally, I think Weber will be pretty good. However, a lot depends on how well the new guys mesh with the returning players. Weber could win 20+ games or not.

What is really nice though...our preseason schedule is the best it has been in years. The week before Christmas is definitely an early gift for our fans. There is no reason why the Dee should not have 8500-10000 at those games. Exciting time to be a Wildcat!!

I'm 100% with you on this one, Tal. If we can't get excited about this team, with this schedule, then we aren't truely basketball or WSU fans.

I'm hoping for a robust fan marketing and recruitment effort from this administration. I know that I might just be dreaming, but I'm hoping for a huge student recruitment effort. I would love nothing more than to see the student section full and over flowing.

Judging by the small numbers in the Marching Band, that program is really hurting for $s. Even with the small numbers, I would hope there is a band at every home game. If WSU is too poor in the music dept., maybe we should bring in HS bands each game and they can bring a 1,000 person cheer team with them. Just a thought.

The AD's group needs to start thinking outside the box to get things moving in the right direction.

I know that I'm just blowing into the wind here. None of those people read these things and couldn't care less about what any of us think. We have great potential, but potential is nothing if not realized.

I don't think he is getting the starters right or the order of the bench players, but most of his other analysis is good.

On a somewhat comical note; he gives UI a tier of their own.
