Early Signing Period 2014

Wasn't today the state of the official "Early-Signing Period" for 2014? Why no announcements from the university? Saw that they had a article about women's basketball but nothing about Mens. I really wonder about Weber State Sports sometimes. Don't they know that the top program at Weber is the Men's Basketball Team? Wouldn't you want to publish anything about that program as quickly as possible? ;-)

Oh well, I'm sure we will be hearing about the four kids who has signed letters to play for Coach Rahe and the Weber State Wildcat program, soon.

We usually don't hear anything, from the Univ., until all of the letters are in.

The ones that I found on the web were Dallas and Court. It looked like Nzekwesi was going to sign during 5th period at school today, but no announcement. Likewise, it sounded like Williams could be at anytime now. I think that the coaches just have to wait for them to do it.

Twitter is a great asset for finding such info. :twocents:

Must be waiting on Williams. He hasn't posted anything.

Also hearing Nzekwesi is going to have to get Visa arrangements sorted out. Could be challenging. Other than looking like your neighborhood mortician Orin Hatch might be useful for once.

Why does Juwan have to wait so long? Usually, if you know where you are going to sign, you sign right away. Is Williams contemplating changing his mind? Is he still being actively recruited? He was our first commitment and I'm pretty stoked to see him become a Wildcat.

No. He is still totally committed. Sometimes these things get scheduled around other schedules. It may be his HS or AAU team wanting to wait for a group signing or a scheduled media event. Not to worry. Everything is still good.

No announcement from the team yet. However, Verbal Commits has all four as having signed their respective letters as of this morning. I'm with Tal on this one. This could turn out to be one of the better classes to sign with WSU. I don't know if there is an immediate impact player in the bunch, but all of them have tremendous potential after gaining a little maturity and development. I truly hope that we don't run off at the mouth and put the same kind of pressure on this bunch as we did on this year's freshmen. Please keep in mind that the very definition of a three star recruit is one that will need development to be an impact player, in the minds of those who make the evaluations. Four and five star guys are supposed to be the ones who can make an immediate impact. Even four star guys sometimes don't make an immediate impact the first year out. Also, it is good to keep in mind that two star guys sometimes turn out better than those ranked above them (can you say Damian).

Amen Olds!! I can't say too much, I'm one of the worst offenders. I put waaayy to much stock into this years class. However, Weber is only 1 game into the 2014-2015 campaign and we haven't yet even seen what our 2014 class can do. Even though he missed his 1 shot at USU, it was a shot we want Richardson to take. I really like his play and once he gets a little confidence under his belt I think the Sky is the limit for Richardson. Also, Hayden Hunter has been a huge surprise. He isn't much of a shooter, but that will come. He is a hell of a point guard. We all know that Zach is going to be a major player for the Cats and same goes with Jefferson. A lot depends on them though. This class, to fully reach their potential, must work really hard. They are talented, but have a way to go, and that is fine. They are freshmen. They are new to our program, Rahe's system, and most importantly to this level. Our youth was really shown on Friday night. Our team is in desperate need of leaders and toughness. Regardless, the 2015 class will have at least three, maybe all four, players red shirted at this time next year. But that is fine, this class will really become something special for the Cats. A true Center, A true Power Forward, A true Shooting Forward, who has Tweener potential, and finally a really good shooting guard, who will be on a mission, but we do get McKay Cannon who has a lot of potential. Got to give them time, but they will be good. Exciting time.

I don't disagree that our team is in need of leaders and toughness or that it's easy to get over - hyped about what this and the coming class looks like on paper, but what this team really needs desperately, year in and year out, is a clue about a zone on both ends of the court and the ability to develop bigs. Hell, Stew basically called this game on his pre-game interview on the use of a zone. How many times does it have to bite 'em in the @$$ before Rahe gets on board? Everyone wants to give Collett all the credit for easily going untouched to the rim about a dozen times in that game. Sorry, I'm kinda on the wrong thread here, but It's gonna take quite some time to get over this one.

Here is the release.

This makes 4 strong recruiting classes in a row, at least on paper. The class with Bolomboy and Hill has proven to be quite good, the class with Senglin and Gittens appears to be working out nicely, we all are thinking that this years freshmen will have great success in the years to come, and the class just signed looks to be as good as any of them. Of course they have to get here, work hard, and develop themselves into D1 players, but it sure looks good for the future of WSU basketball. The thing I like about this class is that they are such high level athletes. Yes, they need to develop their basketball skills in order to have an impact in D1 basketball, but they are starting from a very advanced place, athletically. Their potential is tremendous.

Kudos to our coaches for the great job they are doing with recruiting. :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy:

I know that he didn't really get a lot of time the other night, but Ryan Richardson has a great career ahead of him. He is going to be pretty good. I like his skill level and shooting ability. I really wish he would have red shirted with Jefferson and Braxton, because a year to get bigger could really help him, and he'd get a lot more time, but I think he could work his way into getting 10mins a game if he is given that chance. No matter, I really like the direction the program is headed.

I'm not really up to date on this class like other posters, but why is this such a great class? What makes this class good? Or is it a great class?
