Early Surprises in the BSC

Biggest surprises so far have got to be Northern Colorado, Northern Arizona, Montana, and North Dakota .

Northern Colorado, I did not see that coming. They are playing the best of anyone right now. They have feasted on a lot of patsies on their home floor in the preseason.
all but one of their wins has been at home. The big turnaround for them has been on the defensive side of the ball. It remains to be seen if they can take that on the road and get some results. If they can, they may be hosting in March.

Northern Arizona, what an improvement in just one year. They already have a road win at Montana and seem to be playing with a little confidence. Most of us had them picked near the bottom of the BSC. Now it looks like they may be a top 4.

Montana, has lost at home for the first time in centuries. Everyone had them in the top 3 and contending for another championship. The way things look now, fat chance of that. With one of the three best players in the league, they still don't have what it takes to host in March. They may even struggle to make the play offs.

North Dakota, WOW. Some had them picked to win the BSC. Almost everyone had them in the top 3. They have lost one on their home floor and nearly lost to the worst team in the league on their home floor. With one of the best players in the league, they will struggle to make the play offs. UND and UM are proving that it take a lot more than one premier player to get the job done.

Everyone else in the league has performed about like expected. The next two weeks should clear things up a bit more. :coffee:

RE NAU- interesting performance, since they lost their point guard one of their top shooters in Dwayne Russell - was one of the Conference's top players last season. Maybe this is a case of addition by subtraction?

It seems to work that way for Norther Colorado - Paul Garnica is now with UT- Pan America and red-shirting this season. Chemistry for UNC is improved....

We new that SUU was going to be down, but did anyone one guess that they would be the worst team in D1? They are putting up some of the worst offensive numbers ever.

I would also add that Eastern Washington is surprisingly good. They will give us all we can handle in Cheney. Montana State may be the tougher stop on that road trip than Montana. When was the last time that was the case?

nau was a buzzer beater away from 4-0 start. wow.

suu dropping down to d2 was strange.

if unc sweeps the montanas and are 6-0 it will make for a nervy derby in onden in a few weeks.
