Eastern and Idaho

Summed up in one word inconsistent. Spurts of greatness followed up by stretches of ineptness. Good road wins, against lower level BSC teams that I always expect to win. They took care of business...

Watched parts of both games and I agree. We are having a hard time playing well for a full 40 minutes. But when we look good, we are moving the ball better and getting a lot more assists, hitting 3s and spreading the opponents defense. It seems when we are inept, it's on both sides of the court. I did note that Idaho zoned us the whole second half and we did not hit 3s against it, even with open looks. That really seemed to stall us and we seemed too casual with the big lead we had built.

The Sky doesn't seem very balanced. Three good teams (us, Montana and NoCol) and a lot of iffy teams this year. Four out of the next five at home and then the Montana road trip. We need to keep making incremental improvements.

Incremental improvements will hopefully be enough by tournament time.

Wins on the road are big, but it’s tough to watch when the Wildcats don’t put any energy on defense. UVU played with energy and embarrassed the Wildcats at home and beat Fresno State on the road ( who the Wildcats lost by 19). They need to focus on intense defensive effort for the entire game, and the the rest will fall into place.

Even thought both teams are bottom feeders, getting a couple of wins on the road is big, especially to start conference play. Yet, there are still major hurdles facing this team. Consistent play and defensive intensity are giant concerns right now.

For all of our carping about Randy, one thing he has been good at here at Weber is defense. I'm glad that this team can score a lot of points, but the defense is really lax. I'm sure that is driving him a bit nuts. Weird seeing a Randy Rahe team not play great defense.

Got to take care of business this week against NAU and SUU.
