Eastern @ Idaho

It was mentioned on the post game show that Eastern has never beaten Idaho in basketball? That doesn't seem right to me.

Maybe they meant swept Idaho schools; we've beaten all of them at some time or another. I'd suspect between Idaho, Boise, and ISU that our record is worst against the Vandals.

What's scary is that they seem to be improving while we may have regressed a little recently. Obviously, these are sort of ambiguous trends, but they absolutely hammered Idaho State two nights ago. It'll be interesting to see how it goes with Weber State tonight. Consider that Idaho lost twice to the same Northern Kentucky team that Eastern throttled... led most of that game by close to 40 points.

Eastern has beaten Idaho in mens basketball before. The team i played with in 1985 swept both Idaho schools in a home and home series that year.I also believe Eastern defeated Idaho during the Red Reese NAIA years when they had some legendary teams at Eastern.I believe Mr.Weir was refering to Eastern not having beaten the university of Idaho in Big Sky Conference league games.

It would be nice to put a whooping on the Vandals. They came crawling back to the Sky,and we need to make them earn their spot.

Saturday evening game in Moscow, I think I'm gonna try to get down there. Should be able to walk up and get tix. Never been to an away BBall game before might be fun.

I think they were saying Eastern never beat Idaho while both were members of the Big Sky. It's really a random Stat since most of the team wasn't even born yet when Idaho was last in Big Sky.

I've been to a couple Eastern Bball games in Moscow (during their Big Sky days). Not sure if they still play there, but when I went they were playing in the "Cowan Spectrum"...which was basically just some bleachers set up inside the Kibbie Dome. It was "interesting" to say the least.

This is what I'm thinking as well. So basically, from 87-95 we didn't beat them. I know we've beaten them when they were members of the Big West/WAC/Sun Belt, or whatever other home for wayward sons conference they've been in. Still, that's a pretty long stretch. I still remember watching Orlando Lightfoot come to Cheney and score like 50 points in Reese Court. :o

The strange thing about Idaho is that it seems like most of their athletic programs fared a lot better when they were in the Big Sky. I think they have been dumping so much money into football to stay FBS since they've "moved up" that I really feel like some of their other programs have suffered. I'd also be willing to bet that some of those teams they had in the 90's when they were still 1AA would spank the current version of the Vandals pretty badly. John Friesz, Nussmeier, etc...their late 80's/early 90's 1AA teams were pretty comparable to what we have now.

SirGarethTheeRD,
Send me an (PM) email in as to how many are going if you should go to Idaho Saturday, will make a call and send you a Cell Number to make sure once you get there. I will stay here and enjoy the Women BB Game, they are also doing great. Glad to see the rain today. My Grand Daughter shoveled my driveway for Gramps yesterday, saved what little energy I have left ;) Vic Wallace

Getting ready to head down to the game. Little bit of snow today might slow us down a little. Hoping to come back with a win. Go Eags. :thumb:
