Eastern poses new issues for us. We will see a lot of high pick and role, and slashing to the basket. Harvey will shoot any time from anywhere, you can't leave him any room.

I would put Hill on Jois. It might mean that Bolomboy would have to chase a smaller player around, but I wouldn't want Joel in any kind of foul trouble. The other option would be to play a lot of zone to try and stop the slashing. My feelings on Harvey are that we need to slow him down and make him think. I'm hoping that Gittens and Richardson are up to the task. Once again, a zone could be helpful. I'm not saying to zone them the whole game, just do it often. :coffee:

I know we don't ever run this at Weber. But what if you ran a box and 1 with Gittens in Harveys grill trying to eliminate his touches and zone everyone else?

We need a big crowd and much more student support than we had last night. This is a big one. I think James deserves to leave the DEE with a win tomorrow night. I think we have a real shot at this one.

A box and 1 or possibly, dare I say it, a match up zone? Both things that could limit Eastern's touches. Bolomboy and Jois...another epic encounter. Jois got the edge over Bolomboy last time the teams met.

I like our starting lineup. It causes match up issues for the Eagle bigs. Jois would have to guard Hajek, which he would have a major problem handling. He isn't big enough. I think that could totally wear him down. Bolomboy and Hajek could switch and double him on offense. Jois doesn't like to pass, for that matter, neither does Harvey. Drew Brandon and Parker Kelley are the wildcards. They are the team guys and glu guys that really keep the Eagles together. Brandon is the facilitator. He is an excellent passing and rebounding guard and someone you can't go to sleep on. He has a bunch of different weapons in his arsenal. Kelley can hit the three...he is dangerous also. He can't really drive too well, but can hit open looks.

Just thought of this. Last season, Weber needed a win on the road against Eastern to clinch the Sky and to host the tournament. In that game, a win by the Eagles would have assured them a spot in the conference tournament. Things are a bit different this season, but with some very similar scenarios. Little backwards if you ask me.

I ended up talking to a couple of Eastern Washington players today. They came into the Perry Utah Walmart to shop on their way down to Odgen. They seem to be nice guys.

I thought the players performance and effort was about as good as any game this year. Unlike Thursday's game, I enjoyed the play and fight. The officiating was as bad as I remember this season and that's too bad because I think a different outcome was possible despite Rahe being out-coached.

Any theories as to why Golden found his shot the last couple games of the season or why Gittens finally looked like the same player as last season?

Although Gittens and Golden played well, Gittens points was off of circus shots, but not within the offense......Golden is a streaky player and has been on for a couple of games..... he's still a volume shooter who's lucky to be 40% from the field...... its an upgrade having Ryan Richardson in that spot next year.
