Junior Nicholas Edwards has earned a variety of national NCAA Football Championship Subdivision honors, including The Sports Network/Fathead.com co-National Player of Week, after tying a school record with four touchdown receptions in EWU’s 42-35 come-from-behind overtime victory over Sacramento State on Oct. 22.

He also earned National Performer of the Week and National Wide Receiver of the Week from College Football Performance Awards. Edwards was named Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week as well, giving EWU a string of three-straight weeks in winning the award. Quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell won the last two BSC awards for the Eagles, who host Portland State on Senior Day this Saturday (Oct. 29) at 1:05 p.m. Pacific time at Roos Field in Cheney, Wash.

Also honored by the league was senior kicker Mike Jarrett, who made field goals of 28 and 41 yards against Sacramento State to earn Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors. He is an impressive 14-of-16 kicking field goals this season, and is just one field goal from setting the single season school record for field goals and only 15 points from EWU’s career record for kick scoring.

Edwards finished the Sac State game with 11 catches for a career-high 192 receiving yards, and had TD catches of 35, 16, 39 and 22 yards from Mitchell. Jamie Buenzli had four touchdown catches versus Nevada on Sept. 12, 1987, and Joe Pierce had four against Central Washington on Sept. 13, 2003.

:notworthy:

Kid follows up an 11 catch, 192 yards and 4 touchdown game with a 9 catch, 166 yards and 3 touchdown game. :notworthy:

Pay-ton! Pay-ton! Pay-ton!

Greg Herd didn't do too bad either... surpassing Edwards' 192 yards from last week with 196 yards on only 5 catches and a TD. :notworthy:

Two receivers in the top 10, probably top 5 in the nation. :thumb:

On the year, Nick has 82 rec, 1174 yards, 17 TDs, and Greg has 61 grabs, 1082 yards, and 7 TDs, each with two games left to play.

And they will both be back as Seniors next year, along with BK, CM, and Ashton Clark. Just hope we're going to have a QB to get them the ball.

They will certainly help a young QB look good.

Adams !! redshirt freshman, gets the nod and gives EWU 4 yrs of D.Maghee type potential ! Helps Baldwin to another NC in 2013 and allows him to move on to the bigger stage ! IMO !

With Mitchell and Gauthier graduating, looks like it'll be between Vitto and Adams. We haven't really seen what either of them can do.....and I don't really like to go off high school highlights, as most of the players that we should be recruiting are all going to look like gods on those things.

Should be interesting. We need a 3rd QB - I'd be really surprised if we aren't recruiting some QB's hard in the off-season.

Or drop downs (not that I necessarily like that approach)

That's what I'm envisioning. We've got the WRs to help him in that first year. Hopefully Baldwin won't leave though.

Vitto played well in relief of BLM against PSU last year. He even added a long TD strike to one of the TEs (Gehring?). But if Adams progresses from what he's shown thus far, I'm guessing he'll beat out any competition and be a four year guy like Nichols.

Me either, but I will admit, it worked out fairly well for us this time. :thumb:

i thought it was gauthier with the td last year against Portland but maybe not. regardless we need another qb i hope we can land the kid from Graham, we got a lineman from the same school last year.
