End of Year Banquet

Anyone else find it interesting that the banquet is so early ...I mean quickly done after the season is over this year. I get we aren't play off bound but next day?
 
If key administrative personnel were officially gone Dec 31 and be using up sick time and vacation time before then... maybe.
