ESPN Article on "Utah Valley State " Brawl..

Looks like there may be a heated rivalry forming in the WAC. ESPN still thinks UVU is UVS something....
Pretty interesting how things happened. If there are player suspensions, this could play a major role on how does dancing... Before NMSU lost tonight, Joe had them dancing as a 14 seed... Now maybe we can play UVU in that first round game.... :?

They almost had 5k on hand for this game... I bet it was epic... Can we trade UVU for SUU????  :ohno:

That was awesome! Some of those NMS players had it coming. Lucky for them it didn't get worse. USU fans are always talking about NMS being a bunch of thugs. Apparently it's true.

Got me thinking, anyone remember seeing a player or fan brawl in the Dee? I've been attending games for at least 20 years and don't ever remember seeing one.

Reminds me of this...except less malicious by Pane...and everyone kept their cool. I guess Jay Bilas and Seth Davis were all over this on Twitter saying that they need to outlaw students rushing the court. :wtf: I don't think those 30 students really escalated this at all.

Students rushing courts and fields is a huge part of college athletics. It is an example of the amateur nature of collegiate athletics.

BUT, are we really surprised that students or fans of a school housed in Utah County would overreact and start fighting opposing team players? The reactions of some of the fans was too much. That UVU fan who hit the player should have been arrested.

Oh, NICE LIME GREEN JACKET DICK!!

At lunch they had ESPN running, and I think the player from NMSU that threw the ball at Hunsaker has been suspended, but it di not say for how long.

It is now the lead story on espn.com. It has totally sparked the debate on students storming the court. That is one aspect I love about college basketball, unless it is one of the 10 times a year Northern Colorado does it. It just says he was suspended.

What I can't stand is when stupid fans line up to rush the court or field to celebrate a big win. Rushing out there should be an impulsive thing, fueled by some last-second comeback or impossible buzzer-beater. It's something that is spawned by spontaneous and sudden energy, where the fans are so effing pumped that they can't help but go completely ape-shizz and trample the half-assed security people standing like douche-nozzles with their arms folded, guarding the playing surface. I seem to remember watching idiot Utah State fans lining up to rush the floor after a big basketball win at home. They systematically lined up for about the last three minutes of the game to rush the floor. I had never seen such a disgusting display of planned pandemonium, not even on New Year's Eve or at a wedding reception. I'm ashamed to share the same species with these kinds of people.

Nice Rant

:coffee: :coffee: Wow is all I can say! After having watched this idiotic display of frustration, excitement, idiots, that's all I can say. My mind was caught back to the twilight meet where the Montana State guy jumped in front of either djstryde or Wilkenson (the eldest) and Tal had to hold me back from jumping the fence to beating the guy, only to watch Wiley King run the most unbelievablt race I've ever seen. Or when UNC broke Pattens eye socket and I had to hold Tal back. :coffee: :coffee: Those were the good ole days!!!

The WAC has suspended Ross-Miller for 2 games and Dixon for one game. You think the University would try to save some face and would have suspended him indefinitely pending the WAC's decision. Hopefully UVU is doing something about the two fans that threw punches especially tough guy in the bandana.

Looks to me like the punishment fits the crime. I think that UVU is complicit in this as well. They allowed fans to enter onto the playing surface in an instance where the teams hadn't even cleared to their benches yet and right after the ball throwing incident. Also, the whole thing happened in Utah County where there lives a large population of poorly educated, emotionally unstable persons.

I truly hope that this incident serves us well. We can be the shining beacon when it comes to court storming. IMHO we should reserve our court storming for when we win the BSC Tourney and go DANCING. If we must storm the court, storm responsibly. As the humble photo journalist for this esteemed sports news and information website(although inactive this past year due to circumstances beyond my control), my favorite shots are of students being students and doing random/wackey stuff in the seats AND during responsible court storming. I certainly hope that the BSC doesn't over react to the incident in Orem by 2 or 3 IRRESPONSIBLE meatheads.
I feel that with a win tonight, we still have work to be done. We want to sweep the road trip and "peak" during the BSC Tourney. The NCAA deserves another March Madness Shocker.

A fan stormed the court again last night and got in Hawaii's coaches face. This time during the game.

I really hope Weber wins the tourney so Maddawg will get his chance to storm the court. I think we are going to see some significant changes to the rules this off-season regarding fans on the court. I will imagine that security increases next season.
