ESPN viewer numbers??

Anybody heard anything about the number of viewers Saturday? I also wonder the impression of ESPN whether the kickoff classic was a good idea.

I haven't watched the broadcast myself but I heard from a lot of friends and family that the ESPN announcers seemed much more interested in discussing everything but what was happening on the field in front of them. A comment from one friend that they turned the sound off because it was so irritating that they were so dismissive of the game that they were supposed to be providing commentary on.

Thoughts from others on this??

There is some truth in this. The second quarter was the worst; they talked mostly about the FBS playoffs. Second half wasn't as bad.

I watched the broadcast and it was the worst commentary that I have ever heard. If you were just listening you wouldn't have even known what teams were playing or the score. They did talk alot about V.A. which was good for his exposure but it was sad listening to ESPN talk about everything but the game right in front of them. I do agree with the above post that it did get a little better in the second half but better was still very bad. Very disappointing, Thats my take and I am sticking to it!!!!!

Agreed. I will still take having one of our games televised nationally over nothing, though.

I thought I heard on one of the podcasts that it was between 1-1.5 million viewers. Could be wrong on that one, though.

That seems very low considering it was on the mothership. I hope that was not the case.
