Evans is COY, ISU should thank Ian Fox

How could an undersized over hyped PG that went 0-16 shooting in three games last season before quitting help Bill Evans massively turn around the program this year and win COY?

1. It showed that under no circumstance would Evans or his staff let a player or his dad pressure them into changing their system. They played a 6,6 point guard out of position for most of the season after Ians departure. It was clear that the tail was not going to wag the dog.

2. It created a major need at PG and put them in a position to take an enormous risk on Ethan Telfair. I am not sure that if Ian was a remotely serviceable PG and drama free they take the risk on Telfair. ET was a huge acquisition and I believe his play has helped Luzcando elevate his game and develop.

For once I am glad to see the conference buck the trend of giving the award to the coach of the first place team. I think Randy is deserving, but what Bill Evans is doing this season is remarkable. Plus he is a very nice person.
