EWU! Are the Hornets for real

Hornet defensive front needs to get pressure on Gubrud, if they can't Hornets will lose. If they can then there is a chance in this one.

First Hornet road game in almost a month. Should be interesting.

Consistency week to week has never been a strong Hornet quality. Can’t get down 24-0 before they realize the bus has arrived at the stadium to play. Turnovers, big play and all four quarters will be required today.
 
I'll be watching - probably covered if baby crap and barf... but if they win - I may decide it's worth it to bring the brood to the last couple home games.
 
Hornets got destroyed 52-31. I wasn’t expecting a win but I thought it would be closer. I certainly expected a better performance from the offense.

Defense spotted EWU a 21 point lead before getting it together and having a decent 2nd quarter that made this a game again. Unfortunately they gave up an easy TD at the end of the 1st half and no-showed in the 2nd half.

Offense had some drives stall early on but were able to move the ball on the ground. They climbed back in it but fell behind and the passing game wasn’t there today. OL struggled to keep Thomson protected, WRs didn’t make plays on catchable balls. I’m surprised the coaches didn’t gamble on some 4th and shorts early in the game given it’s an all or nothing year for them.

Special teams missed a chip shot FG that would have made it 21-20 late 2nd qtr. Things spiraled out of control from there for the team as a whole.

Hornets get the bye week and then a decent ISU team for homecoming.
 
Hornets played hard, probably left about 14 points on the table. Out gunned by very good QB & receivers.
I think EWU is better than Weber, should run the BSC table. Good time for a bye, I expect us to be more competitive with the rest of the schedule.
 
Honestly, from where this program was just a year ago to now, yesterday was a win for me.

They battled back from 21-0 to have a chance to take the lead in the 2nd quarter against maybe the best team in the league. Last year I would have been happy just not getting shut out.

Never mind the fact that when the Hornets rallied to make it a game again was because the defense was getting to Gubrud. When they didn’t EWU scored with ease.

Of course no one expects the “no resources” guy to get that. :coffee:

Also that the Hornets did not score more points.

Also Hornets could not stop the screen play! Also in the Red Zone at least two times with scoring points! Any other obvious statements you would like to make

Why does a fan have to have played, coached or had administration duties to be intelligent enough to know the game of football? I’ve met some pretty stoopid people before who have one, if not all three, of these traits.

It’s called a forum.
