EWU HOME FOOTBALL IN SPOKANE ?

EWU AD Lynn Hickey has expressed interest in meeting with The Spokane School Board to discuss the possibility of Eagle Football home games being played in their planned downtown sports stadium. Just bringing the topic up for some expert panel discussion.

I didn't know much about it, but as the Spokesman Review describes the project (capacity 5,000), I'd say it's a complete non-starter. Maybe if they played Central Washington before classes were in session with temporary bleachers or something like that it might be a cool one-off (like when the Spokane Chiefs played at the baseball stadium), but otherwise it seems like a total backward step. Otherwise, I'd say it's just a weird conversation.

That’s a step in the wrong direction for EWU Football, Roos Field has made great strides, and building up the visitors side may be a better long term strategy. A better looking home field has got to help boost revenue for home games. Sharing a high school field in Spokane seems like a step in the opposite direction, is there some benefit we’re not seeing?

Hickey, please direct your efforts on replacing visitor side eye-sore at our stadium. Feels like we are going backwards athletically as of late. I'm in the Twilight Zone!

I think all it really is is showing support for the community.
5k is a none starter for having any events there except maybe college soccer.

Nobody watches college soccer, and Eastern already has an 8k facility on campus. Why would Eastern ever entertain this idea?

This is not about moving EWU to Spokane for a home field. This about the ability to have things like Spring and Fall scrimmages, etc to Spokane to get more visibility.

Anyone associated with EWU knows how much people from Spokane complain about the “drive” to Cheney.

Sounds good to me, still why would Lynn Hickey not just flat contact Spokane City Schools Administration instead commenting to KXLY that she'd love to talk to SCS Admin? EWUEagle2010 I'll gladly go with your explanation.
