I was surprised to hear EWU defense gave up 59 points in the quarterfinals to Illinois State in Cheney. I guess Illinois State has a great offense or EWU defense did not show up.
 
Yes, EWU ranked 7th out of 13 teams in the Big Sky in scoring defense but ranked 1st of out 13 teams in the Big Sky in offense points scored. How can you expect a team to score 60 points or more to win a game? A great offense cannot win every game if their defense is average or below average as they will eventually run into another great offense with a better defense.
