EWU - MSU Prediction Thread

Ok...time to start predictions. 0-3 sucks, but 0-4 sucks worse. Eastern comes out with a nasty attitude, lays the wood to the cats right from the start, and dominates the game start to finish.

Our D-Line pick up their game and has Denarious running for his life the entire game, MSU can't stop our receivers and we go deep several times in the first half which opens up the running lanes in the 2nd half. Kauf and BLM find the endzone more than once. Eastern runs away with it and is in complete control the entire game.

Time for eastern to get nasty and start kicking some ass. Still undefeated on the turf, cats still suck in Cheney, and I see the Griz losing to Sac and the big sky is wide open again.

Unfortunately work sent me south so I have to miss the game, hope everyone has a blast tomorrow, pretty upset that I won't be at the game!

To All,
Reference injuries, I just read Spokesman Review,(fm my friend) they stated Steve Forgette will be ready in a month, Jase Butorac will be used in emergencies, Dereck Westbrook trans fm UW will be available. Glad to hear no surgeries at present. Ashton Miller is gone for the year. The players that will be inserted in the line up for injuries, will be ok. I have seen them in practices, they will hold their own. Go Eagles. Vic Wallace

EWU comes out fired up and and trying to prove something. The extra effort results in some missed assignments and a BLM 1st qtr pick. Cats are up 10-0 at the end of 1 and hold on for a 3 pt win 27-24.

EWU never gets a ground game going and the passing attack struggles to find the end zone. McGhee is flushed from the pocket often but that's where he makes the big plays down field.

EWU goes on to win out and make the playoffs with 7 DI wins.

I think we may see some growing pains for our new hogs up front early. MSU has an active front and will create some problems. McGhee will help the cats score points for sure, and don't be surprised to see a big play.

However, once things settle down, I see EWU finally putting the pieces together and protecting the Inferno with a chip on their shoulder. Good guys 31, kitten mittens 24 :twocents:

Same senario as last year, but flipped. EWU 30 Cats 7. Cats have the same off day as we had last year and the same troubles EWU has had this year to start. Turnovers are the game, but it's payback time and the Cats haven't won in CHENEY since 1990.

Frontfive;
We seem to be running more screens this year, some set up very well just didn't get the ball to the receiver. It would seem the Cats D is going to be stunting at our guard positions so if we can still show the threat of a blitz it may slow them down. With a mix'n match O-line will we be as effective as with a unit that has worked together for a while?

That's the great unknown at this point. When you have the same guys in there as a unit, you develop a kind of 6th sense that lets you anticipate and know what the guy next to you is doing. You can communicate by just a look instead of having to make calls which can lead to faster and more efficient reads of the defense. With new guys in there, communication slows down a hair, especially if the new player is green.

That being said, the O-line is the tightest unit on the team and that includes guys who haven't played much. They all know each other well and I have no doubt that the young guys will be able to mesh after a few series, especially with vets in there like Chris and Gabe to help steer the ship. Clawman, you're right in anticipating lots of blitzing early. If I were MSU, I'd send lots of A gap pressure (between guard and center) and a constant swarm of twists and line games to try and confuse the new guys. At the end of the day though, everybody has to have a first game, so why not today? I feel like the big guys up front will be up to the challenge.

I think way too much is being made of the O-line injuries. Sure they will play a factor. But look at last year's MSU/EWU game. The Cats came into that game with a bunch of injuries and a patchwork O-line. It seemed to work out well for us. I look for Eastern to come out very inspired and the young guys will want to prove they belong on the O-line. Should be a great game and may the best team win.

Good luck.
