Excuse me,

Does anyone know anything about this? I watched the game on TV and do not recall the incident.

I was at the game and saw the hit right in front of where I was sitting and watched it on the altitude broadcast later. It was a definite helmet-to-helmet hit which is a clear rule violation and the flag was a proper call. It was NOT a late hit because the ball was still in play and the officials did not call a late hit. If the defender would have hit him anywhere but the head, it would not have been a penalty. Great call by the officials.

2009 NCAA football rule 9-1-3 states that: a). No player shall initiate contact and target an opponent with the crown (top) of his helmet. b) No player shall initiate contact and target a defenseless opponent above the shoulders.

GOOD CALL, I WAS AT THE SIDELINE ALSO. AND ON THE GAME FILM, IT STILL LOOKS UGLY.
