EWU playing WSU in 2016

Why would the Cougs want this game after what happened last year? Plenty of easy wins in the BSC, we all know know EWU isn't one of them.

well, they did beat us, and probably assume they could do it again perhaps more easily this time.

So OSU this year, UW in '14, UO in '15, and WSU in '16. We play all four PNW Pac 12 teams over the next four years. Good work AD.

The truth is that PAC12 will beat Big Sky teams 90 percent of the time, with a few exceptions. Yes, the more legit teams won't get blown out the same way say, and Idaho State would, but a loss is stilla loss whether it's by 40 points or 3. We have much better odds against a MW or MAC team IMO. Just too much speed and depth in the PAC12.

I like playing the in state schools! Who cares if we're underdogs, that means we've got nothing to lose. The games I don't understand are ones like @ South Dakota and @ Toledo. Losing 1 game a year against a PAC 12 school isn't going to hurt us, especially against U DUB or Wazzu. I really like playing Wazzu, it's a fun local game and one of these years, EWU is going to beat them! :thumb:

I have no problem with these games despite the fact they are a major uphill battle. However, the MOST important thing to note is that the FBS/BCS portion of the schedules through 2016 are now completed. There is no reason to take another FBS/BCS game through the next 3 years. Let's start seeing some FCS home game out of conference, especially against teams that historically aren't very good and represent a good opportunity to win easy while fine-tuning our offense and defense.

We need the money;
Boise State, UNLV, Nevada, Air Force, San Jose St, San Diego St, New Mexico, New Mexico St, Idaho, to name a few.

I don't mind playing the in state schools. As mentioned above, we need the money and this keeps it in state. Low transportation cost, we're underdogs so when we show well it is good for recruiting and our players love it!

I don't think you understood... I like getting the big, local games as our money game each year. If we're going to play an FBS program, I like going for the highest profile game possible.

But the schedule also needs balance, and that's where we've been hamstrung in the recent past. We need to take the money on that big game and bring in an FCS cupcake like Prairie View A&M or Duquesne. Those type of games represent a nice, almost sure win, and another home game. Now that we've got the money games taken care for the next few years, let's get those other- equally important- games locked down.

I fully understand, just do not agree. A cupcake game is not in the best interest of the team and it's effort to make playoff run which starts with high seeding

I would argue that winning is what best helps the team reach the playoffs and get seeded. I don't think the committee gives a shit about reasonable losses to FBS teams.

This year is an example, we pretty much must beat Oregon State, Toledo, or Sam Houston State on the road or the season is effectively over before our first conference game. While the chance to start 1-3 and run the table from there is out is available, it is important to note Eastern has never run the conference table so counting on that to happen is probably foolish--- especially without a single bye week during conference play. Now, imagine we subbed out a road game with Toledo for a home game against South Dakota (or the previously mentioned Duquesne or Prairie View A&M). Now Eastern almost certainly starts 2-2 or better and has margin for error over the rest of the season. A full conference slate in what is arguably the toughest FCS league and roadies against Oregon State and last year's finalist Sam Houston State ensure that we already would have one of the most difficult schedules in the country.

I simply cannot buy the argument that playing this kind of schedule year-in, year-out is in any way beneficial to the team. All it does is put tremendous stress on winning every October and November game and risk getting your kids beat up in the first month.

If we don't start the year 2-2, we may have to go undefeated in the Big Sky to have a shot at getting a seed and may have to win the conference auto bid to get into the playoffs. Have you seen our road games in the Big Sky this year??? We have an absolutely brutal schedule this year and we absolutely should be playing a cupcake FCS at home instead of Toledo on the road.

I love the FBS games against NW schools, its the 2nd FBS games like Toledo that are the killers.
