SEATTLE - Regional television partner ROOT SPORTSTM will televise each the first two games of the Washington football team's 2011 season, Sept. 3 vs. Eastern Washington and Sept. 10 vs. Hawai'i, the UW and ROOT Sports announced today.

The season opener, Sept. 3 against NCAA Division I FCS champion Eastern Washington will kick off at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time. The following Saturday, Sept. 10, the Huskies will host Hawai'i in a 12:30 p.m. game, also on ROOT Sports.

...

ROOT SPORTS (formerly FSN Northwest) is the cable home of the Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Sounders FC, Portland Timbers, Washington Huskies, Washington State Cougars, Oregon State Beavers, Gonzaga Bulldogs and Seattle University Redhawks. The network reaches more than 3.7 million viewers across five states, including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Alaska, and delivers more than 350 live events each year - all of which are also available in high definition.

I'm stuck in the house this afternoon as I have to travel tomorrow, which is unfortunate on a nice 4th of July. But Eastern is getting replays of the Villanova and Delaware games aired on ESPNU (nationally). Nice consolation, at least.

The Villanova game especially should be good exposure. I'd imagine a number of people will stop surfing the channels for at least a few moments when they see the red turf on TV.

'Watched the second half of the Nova game ... what strikes me is how much the commentators slurped Nova, their players, the CAA, and tradition. It really highlighted how little regard the Eagles we getting right up until the last few seconds of the Chipper! :lol:

I watched it as well. I didn't think the commentators were too bad for the Nova game. I think they were giving credit where credit was due. To be fair, Nova was the defending National Champs and the CAA has been the premier conference in the FCS.

I never got a chance to watch the TV version of the NC game until recently. The announcers were sort of acting as if it were a foregone conclusion UD was going to win that game. ;)

excellent news. this is my daughters 1st birthday, so i won't be heading north to seattle, this will be great to be able to watch this.

Ranger;
Agreed, when I watched my recorded version of the NC game a few weeks ago it was obvious there was little respect for the Eagles and the BSC.
Go Eagles!!

Take her to the game, we need the youngest generation of fans to get indoctrinated. She will be able to tell her grandkids "I saw the Eagles beat the Huskies"!!
