I am hoping that UNI starts the season at 0-3 overall and 0-2 against the Big Sky. We played then September 19th. Best of luck this week and go get another Big Sky win over the MVFC.

I didn't get to see any of the Montana-Cal Poly game, but it must've been a cracker. Beating the Griz in Missoula is always a big deal.

We tried to give it away, but then thought better of it. It was tough on my blood pressure.

I did not see the EWU/OU game but 42 points on a top 10 FBS is incredible. Kupp is a man amoung boys even in the Pac12. I hate to see how many points you guys put up on FCS defenses.

congrats on the win! we were all rooting for the Mustangs in this neck of the woods.

clawman stirred the pot, albeit very politely, over on the panther site and a preponderance are leaning towards hari kari. One fan had it ewu 77 - UNI 17. Gotta laugh.

The sense from eag fans is this one will be a tough road game, but will be holding out for 77-17 eags :-). Think UNI coaches will have them ready to play. Someone does think their DB's can hang.... more importantly can their DL disrupt? If not, no one can hang with Eag wideouts.

Part of Iowa States success against UNI was establishing a good pass rush. They recorded 6 sacks and had their quarterback scrambling. Iowa State doesn't have an impressive defensive line, but I think ours is worse. I think a key to success Saturday could come from a lot of blitzing schemes to create those over throws the UNI qb executed so well.

The QB went for 85 yards on 22 carries. Prefer an attacking defense like you RJ, running QB can flummox that idea. My preference would bottle up the QB by maintaining the edge; keep a spy on the QB/RB for inside the tackle runs (Raynes/Weatheroy/Kaczmarik) and bring tactical blitzes on first down depending on field position and 3rd and longs and let the DB's do their jobs in mixed coverages. Expect UNI to run it more than pass it, so pass pressure could work against the Defense if it pushes up field to often. This is situational.

Hard to compare DL's from FBS to FCS. Worse? Prefer to contextualize those types of comparisons. Don't think anyone has seen what our DL is capable of yet. Jim Allen is getting it wrong by not talking about the rotation of D lineman and the combinations of size, strength and speed. He has focused on the lack of size of a single interior lineman. What I saw against Oregon was good effort and decent pursuit from our bigger lineman that should improve now that they have seen the fastest team they might ever see while suited up for Eastern. Expect the DL to make more plays in the backfield and put pressure on the QB in key moments. It's a new day.

That said, Iowa State might be a good FCS team :-).

Wild card could be Savon Huggins, a former 5 star from Rutgers. If I was Farley, would put it in his hands 30+ touches.

I'm here in Iowa. Where is everyone?!

We're actually in the Sioux City area for my youngest son's game. It's a night game and we were wondering what to do with our afternoon. Couldn't have been better timing. I'm guessing we'll be the only ones in the bar dressed in red... :)
