EWU vs Northern Colorado

Heres the latest from TSN: I have a feeling the defense will step up again and wouldn't be surprised that we beat Northern Colorado by a similar score the MSU beat us. I'm guessing 31-10

NO. 12 EASTERN WASHINGTON (4-2, 3-1 BIG SKY) AT NORTHERN COLORADO (2-4, 1-3)

Kickoff: 3:35 p.m.

Series record: Eastern Washington leads, 6-1

What to know: Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones, one of the most explosive weapons in the FCS, is still hampered by an ailing back and hip.

Fortunately for the Eagles, quarterback Bo Levi Mitchell has played well in recent games.

Surprisingly, the 4-2 Eagles have been outworked in several pertinent statistical categories this year, including total offense (419.2 ypg to 407.8) and scoring (29.3 ppg to 26.3).

Northern Colorado has an even more troubling statistical concern, as it has been outscored 117-21 in its last three outings.

Even without a healthy Jones, Eastern Washington should be too much for Northern Colorado.

Prediction: Eastern Washington, 32-21

The big thing to look for in this game is consistency... We *should* win this game fairly easily, even on the road. But we should've beaten Central fairly easily as well, but we made a meal out of that one.

I want to see our offense start clicking early and often, and our defense needs to step up and make plays early. The goal in this one should be to have a nice lead at halftime. We need to start playing like boise state does when they have an inferior opponent in front of them and just start throwing knockout punches. That doesn't mean look for quick-score plays, but it does mean dominate all phases of the game.

The WORST thin we can do is come out lethargic like we've earned a win before the game even starts and let UNC hang around with us until late in the game.

joemon,
The past two days, Tiawan have been practicing like he wasn't injured last week. He have been running with no signs of the injuries, of course, he is the one that can tell if he is ready or not. He said he will be ready, he is down on himself for the two fumbles he had last week.

I had predicted if we could finish with a 2&2 the first 4 games we will be alright, providing teams in front of us also lost. We finished 3&1, now we need to play like the team we know can take the Big Sky, and beyond. First, we must stop all the turnovers, and like someone have said, when we have somone down and out, do not let them back in the game like we did against NAU. We were lucky to have won that game. ;)

I think BLM is in his stride now, hope he can come out this game without any picks. The team is ready for Saturdays game, they will be leaving about 8am tomorrow. I saw team parctice Wed/Thurs, they looked "READY", now they have to perform as we know they can. "GO GET UNC" GOOD LUCK EAGLES. Go Eags!!!!! Vic Wallace

The only way EWU loses this game is if they beat themselves. I do know if EWU will win big but they will win comfortably. (It will be a big win if TJ is healthy and does his thing.)

Glad to hear TJ is practicing, but is it too early for him to be trying to play with this aggravated groin injury? He was obviously not himself in the NAU game, and it really looked like he was trying to avoid all contact. If I were the coaches, I would seriously think about sitting him down this game and giving him some more time to heal up. I would rather miss him one game than the rest of the year.

I think he is too. He should have a good game against da Bears.

Fortunately, this should be a game that TJ can sit out and get healthy. While UNC has made great strides to becoming a good team, we have them outmatched. I also disagree with TSN's prediction. I think that if our defense keeps playing the way they have been, UNC will be held to no more than 17. Our defense, especially JC Sherritt and Tyler Jolley (the other TJ), have really lead this team. That's coming from a former EWU o-lineman! I mean how many times have we seen Ty- a nose tackle no less- chasing down a running back from behind along the sidelines? As my friend EWUeag has repeatedly said, Beaumonte is an elite back, and no one should worry about him taking the reins this week. If my boy B Kauf is ready to go and BLM can stay under 1 pick, we'll be fine.

I have the Eags 35-17. Watch for a great 3rd down percentage...

Great point about D-TJ - he moves from side line to side line very well. Keep posting FormerEag you insight is greatly appreciated.

Camera man is brutal....he's missing a good chunk of the game....3 and out, gave them pretty good feild position at the 48

Yes, TJ got two carries, first one called back on a hold and then I think the second for 13 yards.....First pass I thought was good, not sure why we tested that same side on third down....
