EWU vs SUU

what's the scouting report. Any SUU fans lurking? SUU message board location?

While we don't need this win for the conference title, we do need it for playoff seeding. SUU looks like they're a much better team than their record suggests.

This is a VERY dangerous game... Southern Utah just beat Dixie State 52-0, and Dixie State was competitive with Central Washington- only losing by 10 the week before we played CWU. The game was 42-0 at half, so it was basically a bye week for them.

If we come out lethargic, we might get steamrolled. We need to hit on all cylinders like we did v. Portland State.

See my post in the other thread..........SUU not a team to be taken lightly. Maybe the best 6-4 team in the nation.

Not sure where their message board is, or if they have one.

this game will be nothing like when the eagles played SUU last year. i dont think ewu puts up 45 points or however many we did in last year's game, but i dont think people know how under-rated our defense is this year. and that will be the difference in this game in my opinion.

I posted this on the cs.com board, and the more I think about it, the more nervous I get:

Listening to the EWU coaches show, this one will be tough. Over the last five games, SUU has given up only 13 points per game, and the QB, since throwing a pick in that game against UND has thrown 12 TD's and no picks since. They have a possession receiver in Sitake with 68 catches, and a tall play maker in Poots who apparently catches everything thrown at him at 77 receptions. They also have only turned the ball over 8 times on the season. Christ, how are these guys 6-4?

This is going to be a battle.

Yep, we better come out with our shit wired tight in this one, or we could actually lose pretty badly. That said, if we made good use of the bye week, come out with a solid game plan, and with us being at home with so much riding on the next two games, I could actually see us come out and play with an inspired performance and win pretty handily.

The scouting report from the EWU coaches is that this will be the toughest "O" Line they have faced all year, but we do have the talent to beat them! IMO, I still love the Eastern defense, especially when the offense doesn't turn the ball over. Protect the Inferno, nobody wins here!

You forgot to add "except us." :D

Baldwin & co. will have these guys ready to lay the lumber on Saturday, count on it. In convos I've had with some of the guys, there is a strong sense of ownership for the Inferno. Combine that with the fact that there is a ton riding on these last two games and you'll see a motivated and energized team firing on all cylinders.
Go EAGS!

Time to quit the doom and gloom and start supporting these guys!!!! Sure they're good but we are better!! by 21 pts!! GOEAGS!!

Don't know about 21 points but we should control the game. Even if SUU steps up and gives a good game I'd take EWU since we've done very well this year in close ones. We've only had one loss from bad performance and that was MSU after a tough game the week before. Nevada we played as good as youd expect going against a top 25 FBS team.

Souther Utah would be competing for a conference title this year if they were already a member of the big sky, this game should be along the lines of the level of competition we faced against montana msu and sac. just my opinion though

I'm don't want to disrespect a good team in Southern Utah, but I don't think they'd be much better than mid-pack in the Big Sky. Winning the Great West doesn't mean much with North Dakota State and South Dakota State no longer in the conference. UC Davis is presently tied for 2nd in that conference and they got destroyed by Big Sky also-ran Portland State. At the very least, you;d suspect based on SUU's bad early form they'd have been out of the conference race before it really began and would just be playing the role of a live-dog spoiler at this point in the season.

And no, I don't think we'll beat these guys easily... this is a trap game that scares the hell out of me. But I still don't think Southern Utah would be among the top 3-4 in the Big Sky.
