PSU stayed in the running for the 6th spot in the tourney by beating Eastern Washington tonight 76-69. We had a horrendous 21 TOs to their 8, but our numbers were solid in all other respects. Everyone calls us a small team, but somehow we consistently outrebound our opponents. Allison Greene played - count'em - 34 minutes tonight with 17 FGs, 5 rebounds, and two assists. She even blocked a shot. Not bad for a freshman. Eryn grabbed her usual 20 points, 3 of 4 three pointers. Excellent defense by all. Now all we have to do is beat Sac State on Saturday and we're in.

IT WAS a GREAT TEAM EFFORT.
....and whoever said that sac state was mediocre should be chewing a few feathers right about now....
that will be a tough tough game, good we are home and hope the fans come out.
Greene played great strong ball and don't forget key big baskets by Courtney VB. Rivard handles the ball well and is a "wall" underneath, and of course, Jones was steady as ever in controlling tempo and hitting big threes. I found it interesting that there seemed to be fewer forced shots and better ball movement with Lanz out, granted she is playing out of position but she seems to shoot the ball at times when it probably should be passed out or around to find the more opportune shot. She seems to force it in some situations, odd for a "point guard" to play that way. She is a very talented player don't get me wrong, just some decision making issues at times.

I agree re Sac State has improved much more than I thought. I mean they lost to a poor NAU team by 30! With respect to Lanz, I think that what you have said is true. Lanz is a talented player but this isn't high school and she doesn't have to do it all as she did as a senior at Central. Teams have learned how to guard her and she is going to have to become more of a passer than a scorer. In addition, it is not fair to her to have her guarding players who are so much taller down low.

Lanz has played 2 years of DI college ball, one at Oregon State and red-shirt year at PSU, she is far away from HS to have that as an excuse, I think it's how she plays period.
