EWU has kind of risen up my hated teams in the Big Sky ever since their coach lobbied for and got a technical foul called on Weber State in the championship game because coins were thrown on the court ( knowing his character—he’s probably the person who threw the coins).

Then there was the time the EWU coach baited fans and took a selfie in front of them, then shook hands with the scorers table who he was complaining about…just acted like a total a**clown.

EWU always seem to step up their game, especially in Ogden, so hopefully no one is looking past them.

The coach you are referring to is Jim Hayford who definitely was an infuriating personality as a head coach. Hayford left EWU in 2017 to become head coach at Seattle University. Shantay Legans replaced Hayford at Eastern in 2017 and after taking the Big Sky regular season & tournament championship last year in 2021 then left to take the head coaching job at the University of Portland at the conclusion of last season.

The current head coach at Eastern Washington is David Riley who is in his first year after replacing Legans. Riley was an assistant coach at EWU to both Legans and Hayford.

I expected that this would be a hard fought game. However, when we went up by 18 late in the game, I didn't expect it to be as tight as it was down the stretch. That EWU team has a lot of fight in them. They did not roll over when we had them down. I have a lot of respect for that team. They are going to win some more games. Nobody can or should take them lightly. They play solid, fundamental basketball. :coffee:
