Well, I was one of the 7 people at the game last night and I was not impressed by what I saw at all. 2-18 from three land? We're slow and undersized in the post, and our guards will be easily overmatched even by Big Sky competition. This team is going to be terrible once again folks 4-6 wins (Including the NAIA scrubs) would be a HUGE accomplishment for a roster with this talent level. I feel sorry for Justin Eller...

The lone bright spot last night in my opinion was True Freshman John Dickson from Fairfield High. It's a shame we don't have enough talent on this roster to give this guy a chance to RS to get up to speed at the college level and work on his body. But, he looks like the best player on the floor already and we can't afford to not have him out there. He is the most athletic player we've had on this roster since Jameel Pugh, Jason Gilzene, or Davon Roberts. He plays D, mixes it up on the boards, CAN FLY, and has a swagger about him that I really like.

He's an 8pts/4reb per game guy IMO as a true frosh. I think if he refines his shooting and gets to play with better talent, he can be a 12-14 pt. 6-9 reb per night kind of player for the program.

Anyone else have thoughts?

I'd pretty much agree after what I saw as well. Dickson is the real deal. Talking with the coaches, even though N'Diaye is redshirting, he is a real raw talent...and he has only played the game for 2 years!! Flaggs was terrible behind the arc...i thought Marcial did a better job with his shot selection. Michael Selling has no business being a on D-I roster...forced shot after forced shot. And why can't our bigs make a bucket right underneath the basket. How many times did we have 3rd and 4th chances and still couldnt convert...ugh.

The one dunk Dickson had where he had to duck his head was off the chart...man that kid has hops!!

My only addition is that 13 of 24 from the free throw line isn’t going to get it done. This needs to be improved. It’s good to know that Katz was able to recruit a player with some potential AND that Katz will have this player for 4 years. His next step is to bring in a handful more of these type of players who can contribute immediately.

Also as bad as 4-6 wins is, it’s still improvement from last year (not much but it’s improvement nonetheless). The fact is this team isn’t going to go from 2 wins to 20 wins in one off-season.

I didn't get to see the game but I'm very curious how Sultan TOLES-BEY and David Norris looked? I've heard they are very athletic which this team needs desperately! I know they have many JC's players which means it will take them so time to adjust to D1. I agree this team will win less than 10 games but hopefully it will be an improvement from last year. To me the most important thing will be Katz's ability to recruit this year - he must bring in more talent. If he can't begin to get more people like Dickson then he can't get it done. D1 basketball is 80% talent, if you don't have it you don't win regardless of how much X's and O's you know.

We need more talent!

We need an arena! No arena, marginal talent. Had 678 in attendance last night, whoppee!

Lack of an arena didn't stop Portland St or Northridge from making the NCAA tourney!

And each school making it twice in their respective history's too!
