Football is creeping into the mind...

Let's start with the offensive line for discussion.

Barring injury, I'm thinking we can expect this for the starters come the start of the season:

RT - Ritt
RG - Cosenza
C - Kleffner
LG - Rojas
LT - Waldron

Pretty solid.

Any thoughts on the backups for those slots?

Here's my guess on the starters, as for backups I'll have to give it a little more thought:
RT - Seumanutafa
RG - Ritt
C - Kleffner
LG - Rojas
LT - Waldron

I can't wait to see Wade in action.

I can honestly say that the defense looks better than I've seen in a few years after the scrimmage today.

Good tackling, great movement to the ball, and solid line play.

It was encouraging to see Wade challenging Sommer to see who would get the next sack after their first series. It was not encouraging to see Wade with the pads off and ice on his shoulder.

The only issue I saw with the defense was the multiple pass interference flags on DBs that just don't get turned around, even though they are right on the receivers. Sucks to see the offense get a first down when the defender put himself in good position to make a play.

On the offensive side...

Monahan was great. Nice catch in the two play hurry up drive at the end of the scrimmage.

The QBs could have made some better passes today. There were a few 'ducks' that were thrown to guys that could have probably came down with the catch if the balls were thrown a little tighter. Nice to see some reps from Carter at QB and Richards at RB. Carter's height is a concern to me, but that spin move that he put on the defender seemed to show that he can run.

Good to see some football again. I'm pumped for the season.

The defense really needs to stop giving up so many first downs on penalties. That hurt them in the Spring Game as well.

Cruell and that kid Lewis from Jesuit looked impressive today. I'm assuming that Lewis will redshirt, but he could be something special in a next couple of years.

Not sure if Crowder is just in the right place at the right time, or if he just got a gift from a true freshman QB today, but a pick six in each of the two scrimmages is pretty sweet. That would be something if he completes the hat trick next Saturday.

Sucks to see Wade not in pads. I really hope that they are just taking precautions. He sure seems to be a vocal leader for the defense. He wasn't playing today, but I noticed him yelling to one of the ends prior to the snap to move back because it looked like he was offsides. He heard Wade, moved back, and didn't get flagged.

I think we're going to see a bunch more sacks and turnovers forced by the defense this year, but the success of the offense on the ground today was a bit discouraging. Not sure if it's just the effect of having CK back there taking snaps, or if it's just that our ground game is pretty good. The draw plays seem to really be an issue for the defense.
