...no was standing around on crutches, with LB Zach Johnson (here is his interview with the media before practice), WR Brandon Kaufman, RB Demetrius Bronson and OL Steve Forgette all 100 percent. … The only apparent casualty is LB Jordan Pulu, who has an injured meniscus suffered while working out alone during the summer. An MRI is scheduled for Thursday.

They all looked sharp (here is a brief video) but transfer Kyle Padron was being tested by some very aggressive coverages during the 7-on-7 drills that concluded practice. Meanwhile Vernon Adams threw some nice balls, especially over the top, and still showed mobility despite picking up a few pounds of muscle...

From everything I've heard about him, safety Miquiyah Zamora has done nothing but impressed so far. I'd venture to guess he plays as a true freshman.

Another freshman, safety Miquiyah Zamora out of Pasco, may already be in the family portrait after getting his third interception in two days of 7-on-7 and full-team drills. The feat didn’t go unnoticed on the sidelines, but Zamora credited senior safety Jeff Minnerly with a pointing him in the right direction on one of his picks.

"I’ve got a lot of good guys looking after me,” said Zamora, who played corner at Chiawana High School, but looks more like an outside linebacker after gaining 20 pounds since last season.

With him shoring up the safety position, and CB Hudnell transferring in from Kentucky, I don't see many if any holes on our D. If the DL lives up the hype and their potential, we might have a pretty formidable defense a la 2010. Could be a special year.

Guess who's in fall camp?

Very cool, but wouldn't he have to be an official coach/assistant? Seems like if he wasn't, that just "helping out" would be an NCAA violation. He'll be great asset for the QBs.

Ranger,
I spoke with Jordan Pulu on Wednesday, he stated his MRI went ok, and he probarbly will be out for about a week. Team Dr. stated he might be back before that. He have been at all the practices, not participating, and he seems to be walking with a little limp. Hope to see some Fans there today, I am getting ready for the trip out to Cheney. Vic

The Eagles had a great practice Monday morning, especially if your name is Kyle Padron or Demetrius Bronson.

Even in a full-team drill that was run-oriented, Padron hit some nice long passes, including a picture-perfect TD throw to Cory Mitchell. Bronson is the clear front-runner at RB, and got almost all the first-unit reps Monday morning. Coach Baldwin told me after practice that if the Idaho game were tomorrow, that Bronson would be the guy, but added that the game “isn't tomorrow.”

Linebacker Jordan Pulu may return soon after an MRI showed only a minor meniscus injury.

...and Christian Hudnell, a 6-0, 185-pound junior transfer from Kentucky but originally from Sacramento, Calif.

Hudnell, who saw playing time for Kentucky of the Southeastern Conference, is still getting acclimated. He arrived only last week, “got settled, and started working on my footwork. The passing offense here is no joke.

Schulte or the Kentucky transfer. who gets the job?
If you mean Schuetzle I would say yes, Schultz I don't know. That may very well change into the season, but I would guess Schuetzle knows the system and program and that difference will earn him the job early in the season. Christian Hudnell will be a great asset to the team and give us more depth at that position.

Notes: It’s way too early to start projecting a starting lineup, but the first-unit offense has been fairly consistent: LT Cassidy Curtis, LG Steven Forgette, C Drew Reynolds, RG Brandon Murphy and RT Will Post; WRs Nicholas Edwards, Brandon Kaufman and Greg Herd; and RB Demitrius Bronson. QBs Kyle Padron, Vernon Adams and Anthony Vitto are getting plenty of reps, and at TE, Cody Humphrey, Zack Gehring and Ryan Seto are seeing action in both single- and double-tight end formations.

Regarding the O Line, Post at right Tackle and Forgette at left guard are a lock, however, the other 3 positions are up for competition. Also, Don't count out Forgette at left tackle, he's getting reps there also. I know it's still early, but would be surprised to see Reynolds at Center. Ashton Miller or Jase Butorac will more than likely be there, both are coming off of injuries last season and there reps are increasing daily at center and right guard. Also, TJ Boatright is looking very good at left tackle as well, so lots to be decided in the next 2 weeks. It's a great problem for coach Best this year, 9 bonifide OL competing for 5 spots, haha!!

talon38,
Spoke with Jase after practice yesterday, mentioned about Drew Reynnolds possiblle being the Center, Jase stated will either be him or Ashton Miller at Center.

I agree with you about T.J.Boatright, and Clay Deborg on the OL, they are doing great. Any OL Coach can wish to have te good luck with so much talent on his OL, as Coach Best. Vic

Baldwin liked the enthusiasm of Thursday's practice, but isn't happy with poor ball exchanges. …. “I like to create competition. A lot of times as a player, you can feel sorry for yourself because of the heat, but the guys respond to those drills, and say ‘Hey coach, can we do that again tomorrow?’ “ … Regarding the poor exchanges (from center to QB and from QB to RB). “We’re too good to be making what I call unforced errors.” … Baldwin said he’s hopeful that freshman wide receiver Dalis Bruce will soon clear the NCAA academic clearinghouse and join the team.

Adams worked exclusively with the 1's today, Padron with the 2's. Anyone thinking this thing is shored up by anyone is mistaken.
