Fall Camp starting/New Season

Well it is a new season and the Hornets start in Tuesday. Changes that we will see during fall camp. Laveroni and Tapasa are gone with the new additions of Paul Wulff O Line and Will Plemons at the D Line. Two other changes are Sammy Lawanson from RB to DC and Anthony Parker as the ST Coordinator. Kelley is now just the TE and RC. Many returners are back. Still a young team seems like with not many Seniors but will be good to see all the new additions.

Actually looked pretty good. Offensive line suprised me and K-Ham looked comfortable picking out receivers. Kickers did well, punting still suspect. WR's didn't drop many balls and Demps looked good in his transition from BB to FB. Cassel looked good, too. Kniffin did not play. Defense did pretty well against the run.

Overall I thought team looked good. Had some key players out on Defense with no Pearson and Sorenson. So would expect some ball movement. Both QB looked good. Demps and Rucker both looked good on the outside. Two big targets. Punt team had a punt blocked by scout units. Rookies all over with snapper and punters. Mederious returns to kick FG. He went 3 for 3 at end of scrimmage which looked like they were having a competition.

Made it to the scrimmage yesterday. Paltry turnout, the new video board looks really good and the signage on the press booth was updated. The weather was perfect. Here is the Hornetsports recap.

K-Ham's pocket presence and escapability is going to be important for this offense. Lots of pressure in his face but he was able to extend the plays and complete passes on the run. WRs didn't create any separation until the play broke down at which point they were able to find open space. Cassel didn't play, Merker had some success with the same kind of mobility K-Ham displayed.

RBs should be fine so long as the OL can come together. Quincy Jountti looked good, and Timoteo is going to be a load in the short yardage situations. This means the running game won't rely solely on Robinson like it did last season.

Defense was fine. Kept everything in front of them for the most part. The secondary let guys get open on the scrambles. Plenty of pressure got to the QB throughout the scrimmage.

Kicking was fine on shorter stuff, missed a 42 yarder wide right but had plenty of distance. Punting should be entertaining this season.

Thank you SDhornet for attending on scrimmage/practice this fall and giving us such useful information. It was a tag off scrimmage. So defender anywhere close and whistles are blown. Offense is very improved and believe they will be able to run the ball this year. As of Ketteringham leaving the pocket, he had time and missed a lot of open WR's.

The defense looks decent, D Line looks like they are a little light but Sorenson did not play.

Special Teams. The Medina kid has a big leg and does a great job in the red zone. Cuzzupoli is to inconsistent. Mederious is clearly the starting place kicker. Big leg.
