FCS AWARD VOTES

Not a surprise to see VA in the top three of the Payton award, but was a little surprised to see Brock Jensen out of the top three.
I would not be surprised to see VA not win since he is a Sophomore and considering Cooper Kupp will win the Rice Award.
Not sure the voters will double or triple down on EWU (Baldwin as coach of the year).

Would love to see them all win! ;)

I agree, I think Garoppolo will get the nod. Him and Vernon are on par with achievements this year. However, Garoppolo is bigger (more of an NFL prospect) and is a senior.

Kupp takes the Rice award easily. He is crushing records.

So I know the awards are the 16th, but do the other Awards nominees get to go. Have only seen the announcement for the Payton.

Seems pretty disruptive to game planning if a QB leaves the team for a day or two before a playoff game

Yah tell me about it. I get that they are trying to make it like the Heisman awards banquet, but yah if I were VA I will ask to do a video link or Skype because he would have to fly out that night then fly back in then if seeds hold fly to Eastern Illinois way too much traveling for anyone.

It's a hump alright and that is assuming there aren't travel delays. Can Colin Cowherd or Todd McFarlane (sp) pony up a charter flight or private jet aircraft (theirs or a buddies) for VA and Cupp? Brutal; game on Saturday, travel Sunday, maybe red eye back Monday night if lucky. Whew, tired just talking about it. Heck of an honor for 2 EWU players to be in the running. Just another necessary hurdle. Coach Baldwin will handle it well.

Have they even announced the finalists for the other awards?
also should NDSU coach still get a crack at the coaches award still?

Seems like lost film time will have the biggest impact, and to these two key players film time is important.

Just listened to Larry's AWESOME podcast and it was indicated at the end that if we advance that VA will not be making the trip. Only the SID & AD would be. That is too bad for them, but I would rather they stay at home and prep for the game then make the round trip and miss time.

I think it is a reasonable solution. I can't imagine VA being too disappointed that he has to stay home to prepare for a semifinal game, probably be excited that he gets to play TWO halves this year.
