... and then there were 8.

Colgate @ NDSU: Assuming Colgate has all their starters, they will give NDSU a better game than the Kittens did this week.

SDSU @ Kennesaw: I haven't watched any SDSU games. The weird game with Wofford today was a bit anomalous. Expect a much better performance from Kennesaw this coming week. Close contest. Haven't made up my mind yet.

Maine @ Weber: Watched a lot of the Maine v. Jax today and they have a stout defense and showed a balanced enough attack to give Weber trouble. Weber has some athlete's but can't put my finger on their offense. Maine will be a tough out.

I'm riding on the notion that the Sotuhern teams aren't up to snuff with the teams from everywhere else. We've seen teams from the South struggle, and I expect Kennesaw to struggle with SDSU. They were the only team in the final 8 that didn't look very good today. I'll give UC Davis credit on a weird win against UNI and Colgate for beating the best of the play-in teams by close margins.

Anyone see the FG by UNI called in when replay showed it clearly missed wide right?

Ranger and I saw that FG... Hawkins reaction was priceless. He smiled, held his arms open, laughed and looked to be in a state of disbelief. Way better than yelling, foaming at the mouth and being an ass. Glad to have him back in the game.

Your broad brush view looks pretty accurate Dopa.

I've seen and like Kennesaw but they were outside of the best eight teams in my head. Not because they can't beat a better team, they just wouldn't beat them more times in a best of ten games scenario. Wofford would have been a tough out for a lot of teams yesterday in those conditions. That said, if SDSU travels well, they should be the favorites. Someone who's actually watched them should share their evaluation of SDSU. SoCon just isn't the same since App St and GA Southern left either. Southland should be better than it is. There was a lot of parity (mediocrity) in several conferences; mainly the CAA, Southland, OVC, SoCon and general 1 horse races in Big South, Patriot, MVC (did anyone really stand a chance to dethrone NDSU?) and then the have and have not conference, BigSky. Good coaching vs. not good coaching is the litmus test for the BigSky IMO.

Like Bill Murray says in Meatballs, you line 'em up any way you want.. ;-)

Colgate @ NDSU - Colgate's had a good run but they're no match for NDSU in Fargo.

SDSU @ Kennesaw - Just not sold on Kennesaw. I don't think they'll be able to keep pace with SDSU's offense.

Maine @ Weber - This may sort of a 50/50 matchup, but I'll give Weber the nod in Ogden. Either way this could should be the best quarter final matchup outside of EWU/Davis.

It's supposed to rain again this weekend in GA. Makes me wonder if SDSU can tread water.

They just got to keep those balls dry. It's been a fun ride on the triple option express, but the train stops Saturday.

Quite likely. Kennesaw just isn't as physical as SDSU. Road win is tough though. Hooty hoo.. (KSU rally call)

Maine @ Weber TONIGHT!!! ESPN2

Know most Eagles fans will be interested in the outcome of this game, hope the team gets to bed early and focuses on their game Saturday.

Colgate @ NDSU ESPN

SDSU @ Kennesaw ESPN3

UC Davis @ Eastern ESPN3

WTH... ? Guess ESPN thinks a crappy basketball game that is meaningless is better than playoff football... yuck

Forgot how whiny NDSU was... Every player and coach must attend special whine to the officials class. Ugh.. Those UGLY uniforms are no excuse
