FCS Playoff Games Week 2

Don't expect much from Sac St. Know several believe they are a good team. Guess that question will be answered Saturday. Would love to see SHSU go down, they've played the weakest schedule a #1 team can play IMO. JMU is beatable but not this week. Besides the UM v EWU game, again the number 1 game of the week getting the shiv on late Friday night ESPN+, I'm looking forward to the ETSU v Kennesaw game. KSU is a good team but may be a year away from becoming an FCS powerhouse.

Anyone else surprised that UM v EWU isn't on ESPN2 at least? They've got Kellerman on espn2 and college 150 on espnu... Geez.

#1 Sam Houston (10-0) vs. Incarnate Word (10-2) Sat Dec 4th -- UIW has a shot. SHSU has played a weak schedule. Lots of talent doesn't always show up for SHSU. 56-49
#2 North Dakota State (10-1) vs. Southern Illinois (8-4) Sat Dec 4th -- Not the NDSU of yesteryear but the Saluki's aren't up to the task. 42 - 10
#3 James Madison (10-1) vs. SE Lousiana (9-3) Dec 4 -- Coin flip. JMU had a couple of close games but I like their QB 31 -28
#4 Sacramento State (9-2) vs.South Dakota State (8-4) Sat Dec 4th -- Don't believe in Sac St. SDSU wins this game 9 out of 10 times unless Sac wins the TO battle. 17 - 46
#5 Villanova (9-2) vs. Holy Cross (10-2) Friday Dec 3rd -- Don't care. Haven't seen Nova but they likely win this one at home. 9-7
#6 Montana (9-2) vs. Eastern Washington (10-2) Friday Dec. 3 at 9PM est
#7 East Tennessee State (10-1) vs.Kennesaw State (11-1) Sat Dec 4th -- Has anyone read the ETSU coaches resume? Unreal. They will be ready for KSU. Close contest could come down to TO's. 24-21
#8 Montana State (9-2) vs. UT-Martin (10-2) Sat Dec 4th -- if the Kats are done being the Kats, they should win this one with a good defensive effort. 17-14

Whoa, impressive all the way around. 19 coaches on staff including a special teams coach, a kicking specialist coach(who has NFL experience coaching the jets) a NFL Por Liaison and 16 other coaches.
EWU has 12 coaches.

Had heard EWU vs UM was going to be an ESPN game and that was a reason it was on a Friday in Montana at 6pm.
Why if it is an ESPN+ game is it on a Friday (as if we all didn't know Haslam wanted a day less recoup for whoever came in with tough travel to boot).
I kid about having Haslam arranging that Fced Fri game at night so back off griz dogs.

Nonsensical isn't it? Just checked again and it's ESPN+... Some pretty big spreads this week, thank goodness people will be awake for those games. /s

The fact that the Eastern v Montana game is definitely the best FCS playoff game this weekend and isn't getting prime exposure on the East coast is really pissing me off. BigSky leadership has their collective heads up their ass and the NCAA obviously has better things to do. 9 pm start is late and on ESPN+ it's a death sentence.

In keeping with the theme of the week, Haslam is the Voldemort of the BigSky..

A college football team can only have 12 coaches. That's an NCAA rule. Anyone calling themselves a coach and being on the payroll above the number 12 is an NCAA violation.

They got a ton...must be alotta volunteering going on https://www.etsubucs.com/football/coaches/

I guess you can call yourself a coach on not be on the payroll.

I'm sure the guys that call themselves "analyst," "quality control," and stuff like that aren't coaches. Strength and conditioning and assorted assistant athletic directors also aren't coaches. That's why Alabama football has something like 35 football guys on payroll, but only 12 actual "coaches." It's a hard rule to police, but it's definitely an NCAA rule.

#1 Sam Houston vs. Incarnate Word: Would also love to see SHSU lose but I doubt IW will be the team to do it. SHSU, something like 48-27.

#2 North Dakota State vs. Southern Illinois (8-4): NDSU wins this MVFC matchup at home, 35-17.

#3 James Madison vs. SE Lousiana: I don’t think this one will be that close. JMU 38-21.

#4 Sacramento State vs.South Dakota State: Not really sold on Sac St. I think they’re good enough to hang around and keep it close through 2-3 quarters but there’s a good chance they get boat-raced in the second half. SDSU 41-28.

#5 Villanova vs. Holy Cross: No clue, really. Why is this a playoff matchup? Vanilla, 17-7.

#6 Montana vs. Eastern Washington: I don’t make predictions on home games.

#7 East Tennessee State vs.Kennesaw State: I like the Owls in this one as I don’t believe ETSU is legit or deserved to be seeded over EWU. KSU 24-21.

#8 Montana State vs. UT-Martin: I don’t think UT-Martin is very good at all. MSU sort of stinks offensively but their D will be enough to stifle this team. MSU 17-14.

Have never been to Johnson City, TN. It's in the middle of a whole lot of nothing, nestled on the top side of the Smoky Mountains. Should be beautiful around there, sort of like Boone, NC I imagine with bigger mountains. It's about a 5 hour drive. Trying to make up my mind if I'm up for it.

Agree that the SoCon isn't what it used to be. ETSU had 5 wins by less than a TD and a sole loss by 5 points. That's to be expected with a rushing team. Their defense is for real and will put pressure on the Owls to throw the ball, especially if ETSU scores early. This KSU team can throw the ball a bit better than previous incarnations but it is predicated on the running game.

ETSU is a fast start team and has more than doubled the scoring of opponents in the first half. I still see this as a coin flip as long as KSU doesn't turn the ball over. If ETSU makes the Owls throw the ball to stay in the game, their DB's have 15 INT's this season which may not sound like a lot, but it's a bunch in a conference that rushes the ball more than throws it. KSU also puts it on the carpet twice as much as ETSU .... TO battle today.

Would love to see Kennesaw win this one. Go Owls.
