Here's a pretty good site with breakdown of 1st rd games.

Does anyone know much about either Nicholls State or San Diego? I assume Nicholls is pretty good. I remember watching some of their game against Kansas, and they did their best to piss away the game with a late TD but came back with a FG as time expired to send it to OT. They were primarily having success running the ball.

While you never want to use the past as anything more than a guide, Eastern has done really well against Southland teams not named Sam Houston State. This conference really regressed when North Texas, Texas State, and Northeast and Southwest Louisiana left.

UC Davis beat San diego 54-21 this season
San Diego at Nicholls

San Diego wins the Pioneer League. You don’t say? This is becoming close to a death and taxes situation. Though, many of those Pioneer teams will be happy when quarterback Anthony Lawrence graduates after this season. Lawrence is the most efficient passer in the country. Of course, a lot of that damage was done against the Pioneer League, so take that for what it’s worth. The Terreros did schedule tougher than normal this season, playing road games at UC-Davis and Harvard. They did lose both though. It’s hard to gauge these non-scholarship conference defenses usually, but San Diego’s ranks #105. Uh-oh! If there was ever a red flag, that might be the one.

Nicholls was a sexy pick to exceed last season’s success and they did so early on, winning a season opener at FBS Kansas. There have been a few bumps in the road, but quarterback Chase Fourcade has been as good as advertised in preseason predictions. Defensive lineman Sully Laiche has 8.5 sacks already this season and you can bet the rest of the Colonels defense will be chomping at the bit to get after a pass happy offense.

During a four game win streak, Nicholls has not scored less than 41 points. Considering San Diego’s weak numbers against even weaker competition, this could be ugly. That’s been thought the last two years though and San Diego pulled First Round upsets. Don’t think third time will be as charming.

Here is the Southland streaming service site. Only took a minute to go to On Demand , Football and scroll down to the game on Oct 27th between Nicholls and Incarnate (there is a 30 sec ad)

I was very impressed with Colgate in the Army game. Not sure about their depth, but it is a senior led team and they played for all their worth at Michie Stadium. They got a bye to heal up and prep for JMU or Hens. Not a gimme for the CAA.

San Diego beat Davidson last week 56-52 and gave up 789 rushing yards in the process. That is completely insane.

It’ll be interesting to see how the San Diego-Nichols game plays out. I’m assuming that Nichols is a big favorite in this game but made the same assumption when they played CP and NAU.

Exactly... I'm definitely in that boat of always doubting San Diego. They love proving everyone wrong. I think it will be a close game, and I think Nichols will overlook them. I'm calling a San Diego win.

I love the fact that Nicholls State is "the colonels". Classic old school south. Sort of like Eastern Savages to me. When I see the San Diego Toreros all I can think of is that classic cheerleader movie "Bring It On".. Know it means bullfighter but association is association. Haven't seen enough of either team, Nicholls sports the 11th ranked scoring defense and 29th ranked scoring offense. Don't those numbers remind us a little of the Central Arkansas team Eastern faced a couple of years ago?</r>

NAU embarrassed the BSC last year when they lost to San Diego. They gave up those 789 yds rushing to Davison last week...and won. I don't get it...expect to play Nicholls St. Would be cool to play San Diego and let our RB's set all sorts of records running the ball (4 players with 200 yards rushing each in a single game).

 I was thinking the same thing about playing San Diego. Stranger things have happened.
