FCS Rankings - Week 3

We dropped from 78 to 85 after week 3 in FCS Rankings. The good news is we play Sacramento State this Saturday who is ranked 116 out of 125 teams in the FCS. If we lose against Sacramento State we will take a big drop in rankings after week 4. We cannot lose this game.

Agreed we can't lose this game, but those rankings don't mean anything as they do not speak specifically to ISU. We got destroyed by Colorado and we moved up in rankings. We played pretty well against Oregon State, and we moved down. ...dumb.

I believe the rankings are based on how other teams did this past week in the FCS based on who they played and the scores posted. The rankings will again change after week 4.

I'm aware at how they work, I was just saying it doesn't reflect ISU right now. We moved rankings because others played more meaningful games, and the slots in the rankings moved around for them; including us. We just moved to make room for them. Those ratings won't show a more true value for a few more weeks into conference play for everyone in the country.

Do you believe we are ranked correctly in the Big Sky right now with all Big Sky teams ahead of us other than Sacramento State?

I don't believe it. But until we begin to beat teams in our conference, other than Sac. State, we won't leap frog over them in the polls. Be patient.

Whats our rating in the Big Sky? If you look at it now on their website, we're tied for 7th. So yes. That's accurate for right now being that Montana and EWU are doing great. Are we 11th still as in the coaches poll? NO

All of the Big Sky Teams are ahead of us in the FCS poll rankings other than Sacramento State. Our Big Sky poll rankings have not changed since the pre season Media and Coaches poll ranking were posted as the season has not started yet. We are ranked at the bottom above Sacramento State as of today in the Big Sky. This game is huge for both teams so we cannot take Sacramento State lightly as they played a close game this past Saturday against Weber State losing 16 - 7. Our offense better show up to play and score TD's or we are doomed.

Skyline Sports Power Ranking has us at #11 in Big Sky, ahead of Cal Davis and Sacramento State.

Interesting, I do not know how we are ranked higher than UC Davis as they are 1 - 2 like us but they put up 28 points against the Oregon Ducks. compugherratings.com has UC Davis at 61, Weber State at 72, ISU at 85, and Sacramento State at 116 after week 3 in the FCS.

...it's because the national rankings mean NOTHING. Especially early in the season.

Rankings are only a rating system based on analysis. It does not mean it is a perfect system but it does give a team an indication how they are being viewed against other teams nationally. If they want to move up than they must win.
