It's nice to be in control of our own destiny after a rough start. If we can keep winning, I can see us landing at #5 at the end of the season. I just don't buy Central Arkansas and SHSU. Don't know much about Wofford. Barring a terrible skid, I'd say the top four are pretty much locked.

I can't believe NAU isn't above Montana. Schedule alone is tougher. I honestly thought NAU would have a disaster year after they announced their coach wasn't coming back at the end of week 1. They've impressed me.

I'm liking where we continue to be. We need to do our part and win out!

Wofford is in the Southern Conference; not the strongest conference and they haven't played really anyone. But anytime you're undeafted at this point, you get credit. Their SOS is listed as #41. EWU's is #3, to give you an idea. I see them running into any good team in playoffs and getting destroyed, for lack of schedule. And UCA and SHSU, they are Southland. Enough said. Ha ha ha ha ha

The SoCon might be down in general but Wofford has a history of playing tight games and they have back to back wins against ranked opponents with extremely contrasting styles. The Terriers also have wins against two teams on the cusp of being ranked in Mercer and Furman.

They possess the ball, play really good D against both pass 1st and run 1st teams, and almost beat YSU on the road in last years quarters.

While I agree that NAU has a case to be ranked ahead of Montana, I don't think it's that far fetched that they're sitting behind Montana. I think the real travesty is that NAU isn't even in the Top 25 yet. They certainly should be right now after bouncing back from an 0-2 start (much like what EWU has done), but I question whether they deserve to be ahead of Montana or not...

I think Montana being ranked ahead of NAU by the pollsters comes down to the fact that first, Montana is Montana. Montana has always (until the start of this season) been ranked in the top 25 poll. I think the biggest difference as to why Montana is ranked ahead of NAU in the polls comes down to how the two teams have fared against their other Top-25 matchups. NAU lost pretty badly at home to #10 Western Illinois, while Montana lost to #8 EWU by 7, and the Griz had a great chance to actually win that one before EWU turned on the jets in the last 30 minutes. As for NAU's win over Illinois State, Illinois State isn't looking like a "quality win" now as they lost last weekend to unranked Southern Illinois 42-7, and Ill. State's schedule doesn't get any easier from here on out. Then you look at NAU's wins over Cal Poly (0-6), UNC (2-3), and PSU (0-6) and those wins really aren't any more impressive than Montana's wins.

So while this is all my opinion, I agree you could make the case that NAU should be ranked ahead of Montana. I think Montana is where it should be and NAU should at least be right behind them in the Top 25.

I have us at #12 in my poll. Personally, it's hard for me to get past the bad loss to NDSU at home. I know that it was game #2 with new HC, new offensive coaching staff, new receivers, etc. We play them again towards the end of the season and the outcome of that game probably isn't exactly the same. BUT...I also think a top 10 team should be more competitive than that, even early on. Last season, we defeated WSU, took NDSU down to the wire, and then never looked back. That's what top FCS teams do. I hope we continue to get better as the season progresses, and equally as important get some players back. If we're going to make the playoffs and progress past one or two games, something needs to change with the injury situation. We are going to need some of those guys moving forward.

As for NAU, I would just remove NCC at the 25 spot and put NAU in their place. I'm not big on ranking non-playoff eligible teams.

All of this. I have us at 9 but really, after the top 3 it's anybody's guess. I might lump WIU in there after another convincing win or two.

NAU, SUU, Montana, or Weber might end up being in the top 10 by the end of the season....it's that uncertain.

NCC is playoff eligible but would choose the Celebration bowl unless they lose to NCAT in which case they might get an at-large like the Aggies did last year which would be criminal. Neither deserve to be in the poll.

Terrance Grady and Big Dre Lino are back on the depth chart and able to travel for the SUU game. Two big ones right there that should provide a shot in the arm and much needed depth espescialy at DL. We can definately use a CB and OL player back. Any word on that front?

That is HUGE!
I thought Grady was done for the year.

I was looking at Athlon's playoff predictions. There are 4 Big Sky teams on there, but none have a 1st round bye.

Ndsu and jmu are the only two teams that scare me. We are better than everyone else IMO

If we win out we are probably a 4-6 seed
