Finishing Strong

Well...sure glad the team showed up in the 2nd half last night. We have just had some head scratcher first halfs the past couple weeks, we sure could be good if we played a full game every once in a while.

With our win and MSU's loss last night, we are now in 5th place. We are 1 back of 3rd/4th as PSU and ISU are tied 1 game ahead of us. This saturdays game really means nothing for us as it is a bracketbuster game, I would actually like to see some players rest up as the following weeks road trip will be huge in determining seeding for the tourney.

If we can play like we did in the 2nd half last night, we can beat a lot of teams, maybe that comeback last night was the kick start we needed to a nice stretch of games and hopefully a deep run in the conference tourney.

A win was a win last night...they shot well and we didn't play D in the first half, and it was the exact opposite in the 2nd. Chiverton seems to be taking better shots, Colimon was very aggressive, and Kelly has really come on as of late. If Laron and Big Cliff can hold their own down low, we will be just fine.

Thanks, marc, a loyal Eagle fan who is still optimistic about this year's team, and one who doesn't think they have 'pissed away the season'.

Disagree about the bracketbuster game not meaning anything... it's a no consequences chance to work out the kinks and learn how to play a complete game.

It is definitely a game to work out some kinks...its just tough traveling to CA late in the season for a meaningless game...the brackbuster was designed for the high mid major teams to showcase their skills and gain a quality win to help boost them into the NCAA tourney or at least their chances, not for 2 teams with records under .500 to play each other. Our team has a couple nagging injuries, especially Chiverton, it would be nice to rest them because we have 2 more huge games on the road next week.

I do agree it could give us a chance to work on a complete game, but it can also wear us down with 3 straight on the road. Hopefully it works out for the best, it is definitely a game we should win.

Definitely still optimistic...we have some tough games next week...but if we can start to turn the corner, this team has the horses to make a run.

Any win is a good win. Like how Kelly has stepped up. Kudos to him. Don't think we are finishing strong though. We have struggled mightedly against the bottom three teams in the league. It is not like we are beating the top teams as we were swept by both. I hope we do finish strong and live up to the promise of the preseason. Like others on here I still think we will be lucky to be one and done in the tournament. Something to build on though.

This. I don't think the current team will do much in the tournament, but this year is definitely something to build on.

Because I dont see everything through rose-colored glasses doesnt make me disloyal. But I simply cant look at chicken sh*t and pretend it's chicken salad. As we get to the middle of February and the best game we played was prior to Thanksgiving, it's hard to be optimistic. When you are gettin beat at home by Sac State, on the road by a bad UCI team (270 in rpi) that's in 6th place in a conference ranked 26th out of 33 conferences, and struggling to beat NAU, it's hard to be optimistic. When you dont have a win vs the top four teams in the Big Sky, it's hard to be optimistic (even though we have 3 more chances to change that).

About the only thing I can see to be optimistic about is that the conference is the worst it has been in many, many years which means we are going to get in the tournament and will be playing bad team in the first round. We should at least get to the semi-finals where we have absolutley no chance of beating either Montana or Weber. Given the returning players, how we played vs those two teams at the end of last season, and how we started this season, there is no way for me to feel anything other than disappointed.
