I don't know why they would not change things up when it was obvious the zone wasn't working. The times we got into man we actually made plays. But I'm with Seattle Eag, I think we need to see what this defense looks like against comparable talent. NAU may not be very good after all, but they did do pretty damn well against them. We'll know more in a few games.

I can't believe I'm actually saying this, but they were worse last year.

It's more than just switching things up when they are bad (they should have). The entire strategy was ridiculous. We gave them an instructional manual on how to beat us, and expected to make stops. You don't win a game of poker by showing your hand the entire time.

When are things supposed to get better? We are bottom quarter of the FCS in defense EVERY SINGLE YEAR. Several years we would be national finalists if our defense was only DECENT. I have defended Jeff for years, but with this level of talent on our defense, I thought we would finally see improvement. Jeff planned an absolute flop of a game. Jeff needs to go, or be moved to a positional coach. We need to bring in someone who can help our program.

Rushing 3 DL & dropping 8 in zone coverage OVER & OVER? Smh. That was a winnable game. Idk if you guys know Jeff Schmedding but he was a GA under Jody Sears & that was Jody Sears’ playcalling right there in a nutshell.

No sugar coating this. The D was bad and in large part I blame that on coaching.

When we played NDSU a couple years back they tried the same thing on and and we shredded them. I don’t know why we’d only rush 3 and let their QB sit back and pick us apart all game long.

I also noticed Keenan Williams didn't get a snap? D LINE got zero rush at all except for Mitchell not being blocked twice. Not sure I even saw one real "win" In a pash rushing situation. The Ends played like shit. Coach Eti Ena should be on the hotseat as well.
