First new addition to Reese Court

Eagle Nation, there will be seating BEHIND the basketballs in 2012-13, thanks to Jim Hayford's fundraising 6th Man Club efforts. The new black chairback seats behind the benches will begin in the next week or so. For those of you interested in helping Hayford's program "grow," we are always looking for more members in the 6th man club...

Wow ... good timing on adding seats. Just in time for the offseason!

The way the entire system was set up; costs, expansion, etc., it would have eliminated all of the courtside seating behind the benches for about a 3 week period during the conference season. It was decided to add the changes in the off-season to avoid infringing on the 2011-12 seasons.

I know I am excited for the end result, and that something definitely had to be done to improve Reese Court, but will the chairback seats only be along the bench side? Or are all of the bleachers being replaced?

Also, when is Stuckey going to send his check? That contract he signed at the beginning of the year wasn't too shabby...

The black chairback section will be behind the benches. Construction should happen all of next week. When it is finished, I will post photos. (See, this is why we had to wait until after the season... imagine us playing ISU in the conference quarterfinal with the bleachers out, being constructed on, but no way for anybody to sit there in them... silly).

We will have a select-a-seat night a few months before the season for those interested in becoming season ticket holders in 2012-13 behind the bench. These will be premium seating choices and I expect there to be a lot of interest.

Alternatively, as everyone who attended the ISU quarterfinal saw, Reese Court can get very loud with a good crowd. By closing out the lower bowl, I expect us to even have a larger crowd influence on the game, including during opponent free throws...

Here are the photos that I've taken over the length of the project, less than 2 weeks to have a fully function new chairback bleacher system. We lose about 70 seats in those stands, but gain them on the sidelines with the bleachers behind the baskets.

The bleacher project was paid for by mixed sources of funding. A number of private donors stepped up to make sure to make improvements at Reese.

If you would like to help build up the basketball program further, I would encourage you to join either the EAA or 6th Man Club. It's EAA fund-drive time right now, so if there are any ewu alums (especially older ones), they could start becoming the foundation of the program which is necessary for all of our sports to succeed in the new Big Sky Conference (9 teams to 11 full-time, 13 in football).

Hey! lookinn' goood!!
It will look even better full of fans next season.

Correct. We expect to have a select-a-seat night with EAA/6th Man Club members as we get closer to having a full schedule. Since we reduced some of the seating down there in order to improve the sightlines as well as the space between knees/chairs, etc., it should be full of donors and help improve the program for years to come.

Looking good! Reese court isnt that bad of a venue and certainly wouldnt need as much work as Roos Field to make it among the tops in the Big Sky. Already I'd rank it among the upper end of the conference with Weber having by far the nicest.

A couple of the pics from the link.

*Edit - Damn, it cuts the pictures off for some reason, but you get the idea. There's bleachers behind both baskets now, and the lower deck looks awesome!

I love it! If we get a video board, Reese will be one of the best facilities around. I love the seats behind the baskets because that we create more of a home court advantage. It seems like it would be pretty cheap to add seats on the concrete on each end of the court. I think EWU is in a great position to explode especially if we get the Roos expansion!
