The scrimmage apparently went well yesterday (Saturday 09 August). Did anyone get to see it? :)

What about those pre-season media and coach's polls ranking the Wildcats 5th in the Big Sky Conference?!?? :o How do you think Weber State will finish the season? Higher? Lower? :?:

Cheers!

For the most part the team look good, I was really impressed by a couple of the new freshman, HB Bo Bolen and WR Kamana Kaimikaua. These are two guy that were being recruited by Pac 10 and Mountain West schools and some how Mac got em. Kaimikaua, caught an amazing 35 yard touchdown pass while in tight coverage. Of coarse Higgins and T. Smith looked good. But the most pleasant surprised was how well the defense played as a unit. They really played with a sense of urgency and hustled to the ball on every play. The new kicker look great which will be nice for a change, too many times last year we lost chances to score because of the lack of a capable kicker. I can't wait for the next scrimmage to see how they've improved.

I get the sense that the 2008 defense is even better than last year's, which led the conference in overall defense but gave up some big plays and often started at mid field. :|

Correct me if I am mistaken, but it seems that the defense is not only more mature and experienced than last year, but apparently has picked up a little speed as well? :?:

If the kicker stays the course, we will score more points as you say, especially in the red zone. :D

However, combined with the improved and speedier defense, the KO coverage team should also be able to take advantage of the kicker's increased hang time on KOs to trap opponents at their own end of the field and give the defense a better field position to start. :!: The defense may even be able to score a bit more than last year.
