Since you can only talk about rat ball, a schedule that has yet to be released and the big sky tournament so much, I thought I would start a thread where we post old news stories about the basket ball program.
This story from the Chicago Tribune was written after the North Carolina win but before the Florida OT loss. My assumption is that Mr. Morrissey was sent to Seattle to cover coach Abegglen's final game and had most of the story written before. It didn't go as planned.
From the end of the story.
There is a feeling among some Weber State players that if they keep winning, all the ugliness might go away.
It won't. Abegglen will.
"It's not easy feeling that kind of pressure from fans," Thompson said, "but we're trying to do what's best for the school. That's going to happen."
I know this is a hot button topic as there are still many fans that don't attend because of this. But after 15 years of hindsight, was firing coach A what was best for the program?
