Folsom makes regional bowl!

Having clinched a CIF Sac-Joaquin Section title at Sac State last night, as expected, Folsom (14-0) is moving on to the North Region Championship in the Open Division (elite programs). They will face perennial national power Concord-De La Salle (13-0) at Sac State (practically a home game for Folsom ;-) ) next Saturday night at 7:30. The winner will go on to the State Championship.

Folsom's defensive coordinator is our good friend Lou Baiz. In the Section title game, the Folsom defense held Elk Grove to less than three full touchdowns in a 44-18 rout. Twelve of those were fourth quarter points after the game was well in hand.

The South matchup features Harbor City-Narbonne (14-0) against Corona-Centennial (13-1). If you were expecting to see Long Beach Poly, they've been relegated to the non-feature D-I regional bowl.

As one might have expected, De La Salle (14-0) beat Folsom (14-1) at Sac State tonight. What one might NOT have expected was the extreme beat-down DLS put on an undefeated team. DLS won 49-15.

They will face Corona-Centennial (14-1), who handed Harbor City-Narbonne (14-1) THEIR first loss 41-34. DLS and Centennial meet in the Open Division state championship game next Saturday (12/15) at 8 PM at the Home Depot Center in Carson.

Other games on the docket for Championship Weekend at the Home Depot Center:

D-I: Long Beach Poly (12-3) vs. Granite Bay (12-3) Fri 12/14 8 PM
D-II: Gardena-Serra (13-2) vs. Oakdale (14-1) Sat 12/15 4 PM
D-III: San Diego-Madison (13-1) vs. Kentfield-Marin Catholic (14-1) Sat 12/15 NOON
D-IV: Modesto-Central Catholic (13-2) vs. Solana Beach-Santa Fe Christian (11-3) Fri 12/14 4 PM

I find it VERY interesting that NOBODY is playing for a state championship with an undefeated record. That might be an indication of just how tough our state truly is in football.
