Folsom WR/SG Kori Babineaux (6'3" 200lbs)

Kori Babineaux has offers from both Sperbeck and Brian Katz to come to Sacramento State. Does the appeal of a smaller DI who may let him be a two-sport athlete help our cause? Are Sperbeck and Katz working together on this?

He's a highly-rated 3-Star recruit in both sports and it's not too far fetched to think that he could immediately be our #1 WR and #1 SG as a Freshman.

it is considering we have reed, hendershott, deadder, and norrise all coming back next year, but nonetheless he would be a great guy to have

Also the last person I can remember to play football and another sport was mitch lively and he was a punter. Does anyone know if there have been any two sport players since sperbeck has been here? Because i just dont see sperbeck as the type of guy who would want his guys playing two sports. Hope im wrong though.

Reed has yet to start a season healthy, no reason to expect him to be healthy for this one. The only way the Hornets land this guy is if they give him playing time right from the start. If he has the goods, no need to redshirt him or bench him. From a football standpoint, I wouldn’t worry too much about him playing basketball. They blow a whistle to stop most of the “hard hitting.”

Of the schools listed I have to think SDSU would be his #1 right now. Their football program has been revived under Brady Hoke, they have plenty of openings at WR and if Lindley returns, they will be solid for his freshman year. He will have to be above average on the court to see any significant playing time for Fisher. The icing on the cake is the location, all those places listed has nothing on SD.

I hope he wants to stay close to home and the Hornets can land him. We shall see.

The nice thing about this is that if he does both, we can either save a schollie in one sport (i.e. he walks on for the other) or he can get a half-schollie (a la track and baseball) from each, allowing for someone else to get a half-schollie. I like the one-and-zero concept better unless they get ANOTHER two-sport guy in EXACTLY those two sports (which is increasingly rare).

Regardless, he sounds like a good pick-up. And if we get him AND Graves, with whom he's already VERY familiar? The Big Sky had better watch out.

Yep, Mitch Lively (a Mooshagian guy) was the last 2-sport athlete (Football and Baseball). He's now out in Connecticut in the Giants farm system I believe...

Regardless, we've had a history of major injuries at the WR spot (Reed, Henderschott, and Deadder), so bringing on this kid for an immediate impact would be fantastic IMO.

Hope to see him and Graves around like SH says...

He does have all the physical tools, but I've seen too many of his games at Folsom High this year where he has not shown the toughness and desire to mix it up that Trosin showed. Maybe if he just concentrates on football and doesn't worry about being injured for basketball, he might be okay. Remember, we also have Broadnax and Chastain this coming year in addition to the others mentioned.

for those of u that remember, jody johnson was a two sport athlete playing corner and kr and running track. I believe he ended up turning pro in track

Good point! I remember watching him run against Tyson Gay in the Olympic Trials on NBC. He was in the heat where Gay pulled up lame.
