Seeing some programs with new coaches going to bowls with players recruited by previous staff, Texas and Florida to name a couple, makes me think about how much of a programs success is attributable to the coaching staffs and how much to the players?

Too many factors to make it a simple equation. All those players are another year older. Neither of the examples were train wrecks. (McIlwain took over from first time HC Muschamp, but Muschamp recruited pretty well as did Strong at Texas)

In a train wreck, talent level usually follows poor coaching/recruiting; think Wazzu before Leach. Guess I would say its a complex combination of culture, boosters, coaching, recruiting, players, injuries, expectations and more.

Whatever makes you feel good about you..

Couple more factors, the overall condition and talent of the opposing team in total, and vagaries of how some games begin and fans respond. Preparing and playing to LEAVE NO DOUBT results in winning. Go Eags!

Vagaries... not often used these days. Love it. Did a search for it and you and I were the only ones to have used it in a sentence on the board. ;)

Leave No Doubt indeed! :D

I will always remember remember the ultimate vagary of a ball on another's back being ruled a catch/touchdown at the end of the 2016 Semifinal game. I still appreciate the Eagles behavior
following that disappointment.
