Good Morning Eagle Fans! Good Luck this Season!

Em

Good effort. Not much to quibble with. While most other teams do have better players at one or two positions, I like our balance. It will take solid execution for four solid quarters for any opponent to beat this experienced and deep Eagle team.

Agree that the passing game will be our strength this year......undoubtedly. Also agree we will need to find solid productivity in our running game to keep people honest after losing TJ. Not sure about Weber State having the best recruiting class, though.......or that Idaho State has the best linebacking corp in the Big Sky. I'd put Johnson, Washburn, and Williams up against pretty much anyone in the conference.

Little bit surprised about them having Sac St. at #3 over Montana. It's possible, but I still think Montana will be #3. IMO, I believe the #1 and #2 spots will be determined early in the season when MSU comes to the Roos and plays EWU! I like our chances in staying undefeated at home and paying MSU back for last year's beating in Bozeman. GO EAGS!!

I am very confident that we will beat MSU at home, the game that concerns me the most is Montana. Despite winning last year and showing the ability to beat the Griz I have watched way to many games in this series where we out play our opponent and the Griz find a way to win. I know this team is different, but history still makes me nervous.

I think our biggest challenge is going to be playing 7 road games; I hate our schedule!

I have no doubt that this team has the ability to beat every FCS team in the country, it will be interesting if we have the stamina and moxie to repeat because we are now the hunted and are going to be getting everyone's best shot.

Great post, and I agree. Although I can't help but be excited about our chances in Missoula with the experience our guys have. All the seniors and juniors were there in 09' when we were a call or play away from beating them in their house (one of their NC appearance years), and this year they're breaking in a new QB and RB, and Pflugrad hasn't shown he can get it done in big games. We always play better in Missoula than we do at home it seems. If we stay focused and humble (which I know Baldwin and Co. are doing), then I think we either win a close one or roll them. I'll be at 4 of the first 5, even though only 2 are at home. Let's get this done, GO EAGLES!!!

He's not the best at drilling down or getting up to date info and certainly not the best prognosticator!

True, but I think he at least did some research for this one because a lot of it wasn't totally off-base.

That said:

PSU - best backfield? They get a lot of productivity from their backs because of that pistol offense.....but I'm not sure they have the "best" backs. If MSU had Davis returning, I think you'd have to give them the nod. But lots of good backs in the conference - Hilliard at Sac State, etc. I also think we're deep and talented there if only a little unproven but we will get good productivity in the backfield this season.

ISU - best LB's? Debatable. Not taking anything away from Storms, he's a great player. But ISU's defense has been pretty bad the past few years, so when you have a defensive line that doesn't get a lot of tackles and a star LB that's going to equate to a ton of tackles. In 2009 our defense was pretty average due to a lot of injuries and look at Sherritt's tackles that year. Didn't he lead the nation in tackles in 2009? Kind of a similar situation.

WSU - best recruiting class? I think Weber and EWU had the best recruiting classes in the Big Sky.
